Lurch 08-08-2005, 14:34 Doesn't matter what the cable says on it. What are you trying to plug it into? You need a lead that has matching connections on each end for your line out on the MP3 player and line in jacks on your stereo. Generally, a 3.5mm stereo jack plug to 2xphono plug lead is needed. Something like this (http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/partDetail.jsp?SKU=AV00999&N=411) bertie749 08-08-2005, 14:40 New to all this new technology .... like electricity! I know you can download your CD onto your pc then onto your MP3 player but can you download from an MP3 player onto your PC? Zinger549 08-08-2005, 19:20 Originally posted by Lurch Doesn't matter what the cable says on it. This is assuming your stereo has the 'normal' audio input sockets which is a pair of round sockets - 1 red and 1 black or white. Double check. Around the back, the stereo should say INPUT, IN, MD, AUX or something. It should look like this: http://cpc.farnell.com/productimages/cpc/standard/42328444.jpg ==== Originally posted by bertie749 can you download from an MP3 player onto your PC? Yes. When you connect the mp3 player to the computer (by USB), Windows detects it as an 'external hard drive', assigns it a drive letter (e.g. D:\) and opens it up for you. Then you can see the files you put on the mp3 player just like normal. Lurch 08-08-2005, 20:02 Originally posted by Zinger549 I'm trying to plug it in to a headphone socket On the stereo? That'd be why it doesn't work if you are. If you're trying to plug it into the headphone socket on the MP3 player what are you plugging the other end into? You need to plug the lead into either the headphone or line out socket on the MP3 player and the other end into either the line in or a spare input marked as tape, CD, DAT, aux or similar on the back of the stereo, (not phono, this is a different sort of input). Zinger549 08-08-2005, 20:31 I just looked at the back of me sterio and and all it has is a headphone socket what do I do Lurch 08-08-2005, 20:33 Originally posted by Zinger549 I just looked at the back of me sterio and and all it has is a headphone socket what do I do Buy a new stereo. I don't have a lot of money and i'm not just going to buy a new sterio is there not an adaptore that i can get alchresearch 08-08-2005, 20:57 I would suggest a small mp3 transmitter. You can buy them from ebay. They're little matchbox sized devices which plug into your MP3 player and transmit the music onto the FM band. They're about £20 and very popular for the Ipod. However, they're also illegal to operate in this country! Zinger549 08-08-2005, 20:59 Originally posted by alchresearch I would suggest a small mp3 transmitter. You can buy them from ebay.
