I've been looking at property, and have noticed that it's unbelievably cheap in Maltby. What I want to know, is would Maltby be an acceptable area to raise a child?

Thanks!

There's a good part and there's a very bad part. That's probably why it's cheap.

Friends of mine run the Queens Hotel on the crossroads in Maltby...

"salt of the earth" "rough diamonds" etc... genuinely good and nice people, but they tell some tales about life in Maltby.

Personally, I wouldn't live there or raise kids there.
Thats just me tho !

Wouldn't live there myself either.

but then it depends where you're thinking of moving from i guess.

Seems to be a very insular place.

Town centre looks down at heel and it does have some/a lot of rough parts.

no train station to get in and out either and a long bus journey into sheffield.

Dunno about the primary schools but the comp school's a bit rough apparently.

having said that, some of the surrounding villages - firbeck, tickhill, stone and olcotes spring to mind - are very nice but pricier too.

and Maltby is the home of the chuckle brothers! as well as ex-rotherham manager Ronnie Moore (though he may have moved away since he left the millers)!

I lived there for a couple or years, as an "outsider" it takes a while to make friends but once you do it as a very friendly place,

It can be a bit rough in places but generally it is a close nit area.
