I absolutely adore "Double Cream" mmm!

Worst thing is, they don't include the number of calories on the bars... So I don't know how many hours of sit ups I'll have to do to burn one off!

If I haven't included your favourite in the poll, I apologise, I don't think we can have over 6 options.

I love:
Lindt 70% cocoa

and

Green and Blacks Organic Maya Gold Chocolate

both contain mind altering quantities of Cocoa.

I agree too, lots of British Chocolate Bars should be renamed 'Chocolate flavoured vegetable fat emulsion bars'

Having said all that I am mad for Galaxy Hazelnut bars and Dime Bars (which are so flipping sweet, my teeth sometimes fall out in anticipation)

Interesting. Perhaps you might be able to settle an argument for me. Would you consider Galaxy a working class chocolate bar or a middle class one?

Dabouncer I am a Boost fan myself but i havent had the courage to buy the guarana one as the normal ones a so nice i couldnt bear it if i wasted my last 40p trying a green one if it wasnt nice. What do they taste like? What exactly is guarana? Is it nicer than normal ones would you say?

Food labelling regs state that there must be a certain percentage of cocoa(not sure of the amount )for the label to say chocolate. If under that percentage then it must read chocolate flavour.OK I confess I am a chocoholic.

My current favourite is Time Out. Not sure why.

Although when I was at college, my friends and I had a morning ritual which can never be beaten.

Our bus would get in early and we'd go to the canteen and buy a hot chocolate and a Spira. Then we would drink the hot chocolate *through* the Spira which would mean that the hot chocolate would melt the Spira as it was coming through so you were drinking hot chocolate combined with melted chocolate and it was mmm mmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

yabba yabba ... in no particular order, my likes:

Cadburys Whole Nut
Cadburys Nuts about Caramel
Galaxy
Galaxy with Hazelnuts (and t'other 'un)
Topic
Snickers
Blue Bounty

Snickers bars are a stomach filler; the others I buy to treat myself.

I don't have any dislikes, but the ones I do not buy for myself include:
Mars - too sickly
Dairy Milk - too plain
white chocolate - too PC for a rightwing liberal

With exception of Galaxy chocolate, I prefer chocolate with nuts and fruit so I won't buy any of Cadburys pure* chocolate bars either (Spira, Flake etc)

And I don't buy Nestle

* Chocolate flavoured vegetable fat for all you pedants

The guarana ones are yummy. Like you, I wouldn't have tried them, cos guarana drinks are foul. But a friend bought me one, and not wanting to be rude;) I ate it. It just tastes like a boost but with a very slightly different flavour...hard to explain (sweet, tho, not herbal or healthy-tasting). But I actually prefer the guarana ones now.

The Co-op has a nice fair trade range, milk, white and dark. I rather like the ones with rice crispies in ...

I dont much like chocolate unless it is covering somethng else, biscuit or fruit or nuts or coconut, actual blocks of chocolate make me feel like I am going to gag, too cloying somehow

There used to be a nice one in a blue wrapping that was coconut and cherries and perhaps something else, with chocolate round it

Anyone remember it or its name?

Mmmmm chocolate, voted for galaxy as it is very nice, and make excellent chocolate crispies.
But also like turkish delights, fry chocolate the many flavors one which i can't find any more, ripples, crunchies, chocolate orange and many others. Also like the new diary milk range with the mint crisp bits in.
I don't like nuts, raisans or conconut so anything with theses in are out for me.
Why can you not get texans any more? They were really nice and a real favourite.

mmm I love most types of chocolate too. The best for me has got to be Lindt Lindor; the bar is good, but the balls are absolutely dreamy!! The centre is an amazing chocolate experience I think :)

Other than that, Thorntons vanilla truffles are gorgeous, and Belgian chocolate sea shells go down a treat. Cadbury's Mini Eggs are lovely too - that's the one good thing about Easter Eggs coming out early!!

As for everyday choccie bars, Kinder Buenos are very satisfying, along with Thorntons mousse au chocolat bars. Regular Cadbury Dairy Milk, Galaxy etc never go a miss either...

I've always enjoyed plain chocolate rather than milk chocolate - when I was a kid it was Bournville, though nowadays I like Greene and Black's Organic choocolate.

I also love Fry's Chocolate Creams - when I was a kid I used to try and pick the chocolate off of the fondant filling and eat it separately to the chocolate.

The nice thing about the Greene and Black stuff is that it is STRONG! I could get shut of a bar of Bournville in one sitting, but with G & B a few squares at a time are all I can manage. I think that if I ate a full bar at one sitting I'd have a blinding headache!

Some years ago I managed put soem unwrapped Hershey chocolate in a plastic bag with some unwrapped cheese slices. Said bag went in boot of car. 200 miles further up Canada I opened the bag and found that my snack food was now Hershey Cheese...:)

Why I put said items in the bag I can't remember.....it obviously seemed sensible at the time.

Actually, some people (us ill-mannered Americans, anyway) do enjoy "chocolate cheese".

Not me personally, you understand. :suspect: But certain other members of my family.

I'm guessing it would be something like cheesecake?

What do you know, I created a real recipe!

I can still remember opening the car boot and getting the plastic bag from my rucksack. It was....squishy.

Sort of brown with yellow streaks - it was quite pleasant, actually. Mind you, I'd probably not eaten properly for a few days so I would have quite happily eaten anything...:)

I have to agree with JoePritchard on this one, dark chocolate, mmmmm!!

I've never been a fan of milk chocolate, I would only ever eat it with a filling (like Crunchies- to me they are honeycomb unfortunately covered in milk chocolate!)

Somehow milk chocolate seems to burn my throat when I eat it!

I also *love* marzipan, those German-style marzipan bars coated with dark choc are gorgeous!

Oh, and my other favourite is coffee/cappuccino filled choclate, it always has been even though I never drunk coffee until about a year ago and now no more than about twice a month!

Oh well, I suppose I'm just strange! I seem to have rather continental tastes, or so I'm told but I have no Belgian/German etc history...I must just be diferent!:P

The best chocolate I ever tasted was Suchards. I think it's a swiss chocolate but I can't find anywhere that sells it now :(

If anybody knows a retailer selling this - please let me know :)

Aaaaaaargggh!!! that'S NOT chocolate, its vegetable fat and sugar with a tiney weeny bit of cocoa solid lurking somewhere.

Give me any type of Green and Blacks anyday. Thorntons is good but often very sweet and fatty. Anything 70% is good, but G&B is rich and sweet and ...... now swimming my way out of puddle of drool Alice in Wonderland style.

And thanks Komal this is a popular thread too, but so much nicer to think about than the one about dentists.

You've cheered me up already! Aren't I a sad fat old tart?!

Yup - but it has to be dark chocolate - its packed full of flavinoids, catechins and phenylethlamines!

OK, can someone tell me where I can get this Green and Blacks stuff from then, I'm normally happy enough with some bog standard fruit and nut, or a twix, but this stuff must be worth having a go at.

Of course I'll wait until my spell of healthy living is taking a break before purchase honest

Any big supermarket usually sells it - I get mine from Sainsburys.

My wife too goes for this horrid Green and Black's stuff. I'm a Jeff de Bruge man, myself. No I'm not! When do I EVER BUY THAT! In truth, I am a hastily gobbled Kit Kat man.

Anything that Green and Blacks do. I also like Lindt.

Have to agree on both counts - trying hard not to think of the Lindt elephants I have downstairs now :suspect:

Chocolate is the work of the devil, love it though I do!

I was a skinny youth until I was eleven. This was the point that the place my Mom worked at was taken over by Cadbury's. The amount of cheap chocolate she brought home was phenomenal. Cut to me being a rather rotund twelve year old, struggling to get into my clothes! :D

I'm still quite partial to a Flake bar now and again, I must admit!

Hotel Chocolat chocolate is my favourite but they only have one shop and that is near my mum's so I have to stock up when I visit her. They sell online too I think and have a great tasting club, I got a subscription for Christmas :)

Oh no!! Du du duuuur! (you have to hum that like its leading to a cliff hanger point in Herge's Adventures of Tin Tin)...

does this mean I'm indulging some kind of substance abuse evildrneil?

and is this why its poisonous to dogs and horses?

better still if I eat TONS of it will it make me fly? ... maybe not simple logic tells me that becomes less likely the more I eat.

So not that kind of substance anyway, lets call it a "gravity enhancing experience" for now.

Zebedee time again I think ZZZZZZZZZ.....

Ripples are much better to eat if you are naked, being quite hairy I find bits of flakes a bugger to get out of your chest hair.

The Green and Black Mayan Gold does it for me.

My first taste of it was about 2 years ago. I foolishly thought it was like Bournville Dark chocolate and guzzled about half a bar.

I spent the rest of the afternoon 'buzzing' and then had a blinding headache for an hour.

Then it was off to find some more.... :D

But I did learn that it's strong stuff and should be eaten with the utmost respect!

You are not alone, I don't really like it either. Seems a bit pointless as its just milk and fat. Without the bitter background its not REAL chocolate, just a by product. But it is nice if your really hungry and stuck at a bus stop in the rain in winter - unless the chip shop is open!

I just made some chocolate crackles. rice bubbles ( crispies?) stirred into melted chocolate spooned into pastry cases and put into fridge to set . Not like the recipe on the packet using copha and cocoa. Taste much nicer.
