does anyone remember the nightclub "Highway 66" that was on london road between 1965 and 1968?

It was actually called Highway 61, as in the A61 on which it was situated.

Thats right johnh, corner of Broadfield Road. Very popular with the soul crowd, in fact it was run by the manager of the Pitiful Souls. The Djs, I was one of them, came from the Ark at Crooksmoor and then Eversley House on Upperthorpe. It had no drink license but everybody had good time without having to pour 10 pints of lager down their throats ( that could be another thread ) The music was the thing.

Started life as the Silhouette club, flourescent lighting and black walls etc. Wasted many a happy hour in there .

were you in the silhouette club when THE WHO were
supposed to play & aband called whos who turned up
after several trips to the bridge inn it didnt seem to matter
easy pleased in those days
