I have a Griffin RoadTrip (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/roadtrip/) and it is fantastic! I assume it's functionally the same as the second link you pasted (the first doesn't seem to work), just combined into a cradle. One reason I got it is that it works just as well by slotting in an ipod mini as a full size version, and we have one of each, but if you don't need the cradle it might be overkill.

Are they legal? Not that I think anyone's going to arrest you for using it (hard to track a moving target for a start, and I presume they broadcast at a very low signal strength), but I always understood you needed a license to broadcast on FM - I have a Veronica FM transmitter (http://www.veronica.co.uk/50mwsb.htm) here, which I'd intended to use to stream my MP3s around the house, but I never used because I was a bit scared of the law and I no longer need it now that I've got wireless networking (Veronica make it clear that their units are not legal for UK use).

Correct - all of the sites selling such things in the UK either specifically say you agree to never use it, or make you tick a box stating that :)

Broadcasting on FM is illegal without a licence, but i doubt anyone will be bothered.. except the people listning to radio2 in the car next to you when eminem comes on...
