View Full Version : I'd like some sea horses loobylou2008 10-12-2009, 19:29 where can i buy sea horses and all the equipment to keep them in sheffield? cooljules 10-12-2009, 19:38 i would try a aquarium shop... magsie 10-12-2009, 19:43 I wouldn't try at all! They are apparently difficult to keep. Think this might be one species which is left to the specialist, or in the sea! cuddlycats 10-12-2009, 19:44 http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=530669 Have a look at this thread. They are a marine shop from what i can gather so may have what you are looking for. Only thing i know about seahorses is that they need a tall tank rather than wide. muddycoffee 10-12-2009, 20:03 I have never kept marine fish, only ever tropical fish. From what I hear keeping them is more or less a full time job. I seriously would not consider it unless you have kept at least tropical fish for some time first and then spent a long time doing some serious research in to sea horses. neeeeeeeeeek 10-12-2009, 20:18 And have vast amounts of cash! 35021198 12-12-2009, 20:55 go to Blue Ocean in Attercliffe as mentioned in a previous reply. They dont have any in stock but can order them in for you. But they are expensive and difficult to get them feeding Lexi 13-12-2009, 13:48 There is a place in Barnsley that sell them, It's an Aquarium and reptile place near the Bus Station. jamiscool 19-05-2010, 14:51 Hi, I bought my first marine tank 18mths ago as an xmas pressie for the kids. I started with 2 baby kuda seahorses and told the kids not to expect much as they are really hard to keep. Anyway, they went on to bread in my tank and I have 3 live births within the first year. Most of the babies sadly died but I have 3 left, which are 8mths and 6mths old. If you are prepared to do your research and have got time on your hands, they are very rewarding and beautiful to watch. I wouldn't consider myself an expert in any shape or form but have had success with them. If you need any advice please msg me. P.S- I bought mine from Viscum for £40 each, Nigel and Helen at Simply Seahorses are fantastic and give excellent advice, checkout their website. daznat 06-06-2010, 09:28 marine fish are easy to look after only thing you need to do is do a water change every 2 weeks thats it |
