Can anyone help me???
My CD ROM drive on my laptop is pretending its not there and won't play anything:mad:
Is it broken and needs fixing or is it really hiding???:confused:

go into start/control panel/system/hardware/device manager see if its listed there under cd drives, check if it has ! or anything on it

I have done that and its not there??? Its as if its just dissapeared!
When I put a disc in, it whirrs round then stops as if to say what am I doing im not even here.
Its doing my head in!!:loopy:

Have you tried turning the comp off, removing the CDROM, rebooting, turning off the comp, re-inserting the CDROM & rebooting to see if it re-appears?
Sometimes does, sometimes doesn't...
Are you using Windows XP?
It might be worth popping the CD Drive out, reboot the laptop, turn it off and pop the drive back in again. The 'Found New Hardware' wizard should pop up and install it again.

I cant take it out??? I will have another go with what you have all said and hopefully it will work again! (Ill probably break it even more!)

i had that problem the other week on my computer both disc drives went walkabouts i solved the problem by just doing a system restore
