Morning...

I'm re-designing the web site for Wentworth village, it's just a small community site, & frankly most of the artwork & photos they have on there are ten years old & a bit naff. There's even some gif files :gag:

Does anyone have any photos of Wentworth that they could kindly give permission for me to use as part of the village's shiny new site?

There will be a gallery section, & some photos could do with being included in articles. If I use your photo in any article I will credit you directly below the picture (plus link to site if wanted), if I use them in any gallery feature I will either group photos by subject or artist/photographer, & credit accordingly by section or individual picture. If you sell larger versions of any photos I use then I would also write a big fat link to your store or other appropriate site in the links section.

Basically if you let me use anything that's worthwhile I will link to your site whenever appropriate, & will never use anything for any purpose other than stated above.

If anyone has anything please PM me, I'll send you my email address.

Isn't their anyone in the village who can supply photos? Surly that would be the best source of photos?

I'm kind of doing it as a favour, & sort of as a surprise. I don't actually know anyone in the village except the person I'm hoping to surprise (who has had the unofficial job of handling the site since the start), & so the only person I can ask directly is the only person who I don't want to find out about the re-design.

I've mentioned possibly re-doing it a few months ago, & so I know that the idea of setting up a gallery section & asking for submissions for this & other site content would be welcomed.

I've got some photos myself over the last couple of summers, but my photography skills are sadly lacking.

Here's a shocking thought - you could always pay for someone's time and effort in producing some decent photos.
Suprisingly photo credits are still not accepted when you do grocery shopping.

What was that for?

I come on here, asking for any artwork that anyone *has* & is willing to have showing on a web site, with return links given to whatever commercial enterprise you have running, & I get that crap off you?

I'm not asking for anyone to undertake any work they haven't already done, I'm not making money from any of this, & I'm re-doing a small non-profit community site for free, all I'm asking is a small favour in return for a small favour. If that's so offensive to you then please ignore this thread, but don't come on here with an attitude to a perfectly innocent question.

That was a bit harsh. And not for the first time.

The guy asked a question for a not for profit organisation. If you don't want to help then don't but theres no need for the sarcastic dig.

Thanks, it's not just me then. I've had a run in before with that particular idiot before on the tech forum, (s)he's a Photoshop zealot as well as evidently a minor forum troll.

Not a troll comment out of nowhere Cuey. Photographers are always being asked to do work for nothing and it's something I find very tiresome. Offering a photo credit as if that is of any value is I find somewhat insulting. It's all part and parcel of the ongoing devaluation of photography.
I'm just offering an alternative viewpoint on an open forum.

I'm a photoshop zealot now! Sorry steev - PS is just a tool, just like an enlarger or a camera is. I'm only judged a PS zealot by ignorant luddites who somehow think PS is the Devil's tool and not 'real' photography.
And just because I have a different opinion to you does not make me an idiot. Besides, as you admit to be lacking Photography skills, how can you even give a considered opinion regarding Photoshop? :loopy:
