first time I've been there in years and it looks to have suffered a cave-in - you can hardly get into the balcony chamber - I was really disappointed :(

thats a shame :(
but thats the nature of the place i suppose,an ever changing crag,
i love the place ridi...walking over to the top and just soaking the view in,
i may well go over and have a looksy one day soon,

I've seen Stanage Edge from below many times but being disabled was unable 2 explore:mad:

well being able bodied didn't help me too much, turned my ankle twice on the bushy stuff - its well sore :)

I went looking for the cave last year and didn't find it. How difficult is it to get to?

nobikejohn and I watched the sunset from Stanage Edge yesterday evening. It was glorious. :thumbsup:

It must of been several years since I was last in the cave but remember it so vividly, I could spend ages perched out on the balconey and this news therefore makes me feel rather sad. I know there are photo's on the net of the cave but it wont be half as much fun going to the edge and not having the cave to sit in for a bit of quiet nostalgia.

You can still get out onto the balcony via the cave - just need to be a bit more flexible to get in it - and it was full of water - it was dead easy to find and the views out over Hathersage and the hope valley were awesome as always....

Lots of climbers - the little Internetowl is now hagging to be took to a climbing wall to give it a go - she doesn't realise they don't do walls suitable for short fat 40+ year olds :) - not exactly built for climbing - struggle with the stairs ;)
