Not a fan then:hihi:

I enjoyed it. His new stuff is quite well spaced, but it sounds good to me.

I wasn't keen on The Crucible as a music venue though.

I do like much of it. I also liked some of his jokes and banter, but after an hour, I, and many around me were fidgeting in their seats looking forward to the end.

I assume his comments about dancing were ironic.

...and Hush-a bye Mountain??? Do me a favour.

I went last night and after speaking to quite a few people in the bar afterwards no-one had a negative thing to say, they certainly weren't "Looking forward to the end". I also thought the support act were really good, Ive ordered their CD.

Well understandably he's still going to be plugging Truelove's Gutter for those that may be relatively new to him, although judging by the amount of laughter well before he delivered his punchlines I suspect there were a fair few of us who knew what was coming :hihi: I was at Friday night's gig and was a little surprised at the similarity to his TG tour gig at the Lyceum, however the intimacy of it was absolutely superb (Row B, just a couple of yards away from bassman Colin). It was also a real treat to hear Oh My Love live again

Devil's Arse here I come....

After the first four songs were the same as those he played at the Nottingham gig I was a little disappointed to think it would be the same set but I wasn't disappointed for long! I was entranced for the whole two hours! What the hell was that Hush-a-bye mountain thing? Not something I'd heard before. See you at the Devil's arse in a fortnight

It's from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and he's not the first (legend) to cover it by any means :

I thought Richard was excellent on Sat night as was The Lost Brothers and later Neil McSweeney in the bar...To call him Borely is disrespectful...I mean if you know his music, you know what to expect, so why go and see him...The sound that night ,thanks to Mike Timm, was awesome...it was nice to go to a gig and not hear babbling voices during a performance..so for that reason I thought that The Crucible was a great choice for a venue...I actually saw Thin Lizzy play there when I was a kid...anyway hats off to Hawley, he does our city proud and he is a great songwriter.

I enjoyed the Lost Brothers so much I've ordered their CD, shame they were weren't available on the night, only selling vinyl seemed bit odd.
