I'm looking for an application that turns your iphone into a dongle or enables you to use wireless internet on your laptop via your iphone. Does anyone know what it's called?

Cheers

Is there not an application you can buy from the app store, maybe one where you attach the iphone to the laptop via a USB?

There is no official app apart from that offered by 02 as part of their service which comes at extra cost as covered here (http://shop.o2.co.uk/update/internet.html). (Other iPhone supporting-networks such as Orange may offer a similar service.) Hacks providing a work-around are available but you'd be unwise to try such as they would break your terms of service - not to mention open up your iPhone to malware - and such cannot be discussed on this forum.

You can do it on a Symbian device. You can't on an iPhone because o2 will just turn off your data. 'Unlimited' data means 'unlimited as long as you only look at in on the iphone, not on any other device'.

Jailbreak your phone if you want to do it for free, or try this http://help.benm.at/help.php

at your own risk of course

Says he after posting all the info required to find out.

Anyone with half a brain can find out how to hack stuff - not least due to Bing singing - but they usually need a full one to do the deed.

My last post warning that you will be cut off if you try and use your data plan tethered without paying o2 was removed for no apparent reason, and with no notice from whoever removed it - is this normal here?

Anyway - your phone will be disconnected if you try and use it untethered without paying. Link (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/technology/2009/06/18/o2-to-cut-off-iphone-hack-tetherers-115875-21451512/)

I can't see there is anything wrong in saying this - especially as the posts suggesting ways to break a contract are left to stand - but if you are someone who is going to delete this, can you at least tell me why? Thanks.
