P@H woodshaving are no longer on offer. They are 12.99 for the giant bale. They have gone up in price so i was wondering if anybody knew anywhere I could get these giant bales cheaper for my rescue guinea pigs?

Thanks in advance
:)

Try McClure timber (S26 area), they defiantly sell them and i think there in the region of £5.00 for a large bale.

You could even blag them cheaper if a rescue.

Be careful buying shavings from places like this, they often have large bits of wood still in them, pet shops have to make sure there aren't any

never had any problems nor have heard of any.

its not a small timer place, its a large timer place that produced mass amounts, the shavings are done properly. not just swept up meaning anything could be in them

Parklands at Aston - easibed is £9 a bale and suitable for small furries. Std shavings are around £6.50 a bale.

Lottie, we have 2 medium bales of Pets at home woodshavings to give you for free if you are able to come and collect them? We use another bedding for our gerbils now so dont need them. Let us know.

Be sure that any bales you get are dust extracted. You may well find cardboard is much cheaper than dust extracted wood shavings :)

Bedding

Any piggies adopted from CavyRescue are adopted on the terms that they are not put on sawdust or wood shavings. Dusty products can cause respiratory problems and – before we got into rescuing and were simply pet owners – one of piggies died as a result of being on dusty shavings.

We recommend you use EcoPetBed (which you can buy online from www.earthlyenterprises.co.uk at around £17 a bale ) or Carefresh Pet Bedding, from Supreme and available in most pet shops.

Newspaper, changed daily to stop the ammonia causing breathing problems, is an OK stop gap and, despite what people say, we’ve never heard of a piggie dying from being on newspaper.

The farm also sells its very own shredded cardboard. I use it for the rats - it's very cheap and does the job. :)

I have seen large bits in the pets at home stuff on a couple of occasions.

friend2felin where abouts are you?

I might try McClure timber. Do you know if its safe for pets?

It's extortionate, we get through 3 giant bales a week for all our rescues, apparently the price has gone up a lot in the last year or so because of the building trade not being so busy.

Lottie we are near the Halifax Road in Wadsley Bridge. No pressure or anything I can always advertise them on Freecycle
