View Full Version : Bridlington Vs skegness
RazzleDazzle 06-08-2005, 16:53 Just thought I would carry on a topic on here that we have discussing with family etc.
I spend much of my early years in the Skegness/ Mablethorpe area as my parents owned a caravan there but now I am not so keen on the area. We go for daytrips sometimes but anything longer just has to be in the Bridlington/ Scarborough area as there just seems to be so much more up that way and the scenery is nicer. What do you think?
We don't go much but I'd have to say that Brid/Scarborough are definitely better then Chav-Vegas, er I mean Skeggy.. Cos the beach is cleaner, and for another thing the arcades are more up to date in case the weather does turn iffy.
I use to love going to bridlington at lot when i was younger till my family found ingoldmels/skegness.I went to brid last time 4ys ago and does not look the same to me,love skegness tho for hoilldays. As for scarbrough use to bore the pants of me as does mabelthorpe my xs mum got a caravan we use to go a lot when we took her down, and nothing to do they couple good pubs that it.
So my vote i say skegness/ingoldmels is the best for hollidays.day trips it has to be cleethorps as easy to get to by train and cheap and kids love it for day out.
DragonofAna 06-08-2005, 18:14 As I have said before - Scarborough is my favourite. You can reach Brid and whitby quickly by car - just in case you get bored of the noise and the lovely aromas.
Was in Scarbro last week and the beach was an absolute tip - not like it usually is. They have those big beach machines that scrape up all the crap and make the sand all nice, but they must have been on strike.
A short drive to whitby which is packed with tourists - especially on markey day, and bobs your uncle - or maybe he isn't.
Skeggy is okay cos of the market but once you have seen it and spent up the place becomes a bit boring.

Well we went last monday and all the places was open. But each to they own aint it end of day.ok not a lot to do but least got beach for kids that makes em happy.
the_rudeboy 06-08-2005, 21:30 It must have been half day closing (all day) on Thursday!!
Maybe i dont like the place much cos i was born there and spent much of my childhood there. Its still the same....even the seaside novelty shop my grandma used to run, 30+ yrs ago, is exactly the same!!! The fish & chips were nice tho.
matsalleh 06-08-2005, 22:07 I went to Bridlington recently and thought it was the most run down and depressing place I had been to for a long time. Then I went to Blackpool, well past it's sell by date.Skegness I can't comment on.Depends what you want,I like Whitby and that area.
Brid is much better than Skeggy - although I'd only use either for a day out / long weekend.
A better beach, better chippies, a harbour, better scenery (Flamborough Head close by), quicker to get to.
squeakyclean 07-08-2005, 17:22 Fish & chips on the harbour wall .... yum Yum !
yosser_huges 07-08-2005, 19:32 Having just got back from skeggy yesterday, I would reccomend it to you. although the weather was crap :(
I was born in Bridlington so I'd have to say Brid! But then I haven't been back for a LONG time! I used to prefer Filey anyway.. much nicer.
Or better still Bamburgh, in Northumberland.
I think it depends on what you want and what the size of your family is. If i had my kids with me i think skeggi would be best option, on me own with me wife then a nice day in brid would be lovely.
squeakyclean 07-08-2005, 19:50 Slightly off topic but I agree about Bamburgh although there isn't much for the kids to do apart from the castle, The scenery just seems much nicer the further north you go and i must say that although I am a great fan of Brid we has a great time last year in Northumberland especially Embleton Bay.
Bridlington, Scarborough, Whitby, Filey anywhere but Skegvegas:gag:
I have to say Bridlington.. Only cause my Gramps lives there :D
All together now..
Oh I do like to be beside the seeeeeeeeaside...
