What do you think the best locally produced food is, and where can you buy it? I'm thinking of local meats from farm shops, locally grown veg and fruit, recipes and products specific to Sheffield made using local ingredients, whatever keeps the food miles down and tastes great.
Loxley Valley Community Farm will be expanding its veg production next year and we hope to produce surplus that is for sale. We may also be in position to provide free range pork and chicken, I quite like the idea of running a scheme where we can raise a pig for you :D
We have been foruntae enough to be featured on River Cottage and are the first Community Supported Agriculture scheme in South Yorkshire

I've just put a post about Christmas birds on the chicken and poultry megathread so at the risk of repetition we grow and supply traditional i.e. really free range chicken, to some local retailers and restaurants or direct to consumers via farmer's markets etc. We're based near Wortley and can delivery to anywhere in the Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham areas throughout the year. We cannot compete on price with caged or imported chicken but for premium, high welfare chicken with flavour and texture we are confident in our product.
