YEah:

RICHARD FEARLESS @ SHUSH (DEATH IN VEGAS)

Plus 4 live local bands all received rave reviews.

20th December
Shush@.Zero 14-16 Matilda Street.
8pm- 4am. £4 with ticket. £5 on the door

SHUSH welcomes DEATH IN VEGAS main man RICHARD
FEARLESS on Saturday 20th December for another night
of electronic mayhem at .ZERO
Richard Fearless is one half of the duo, which formed
Death in Vegas in the early nineties. He has
contributed to some of the best music to come out of
this country in the last few years and this is a night
not to be missed.
Maintaining residencies at the likes of London’s
Fabric, he illustrates his diverse musical tastes by
playing sets which cover everything from twisted
electro, acid house, dark techno, MC5, The Stooges and
all angles in between.

Before the fun and games with Richard Fearless we have
a selection of local bands playing. The bands will be
playing from 8.30 untill 11.30 with Tuffty DJing
between the bands.

THE PHONETICS.
Are:- Sam on keyboards,Sam D and Alex on guitars,
Andy on bass and Stuart on drums.
All sing but none dance.
Spurred on by a love of such things as:-
Eels, Steely Dan, Ron Sexsmith, The Stranglers, Red
Hot Chilli Peppers, Pink Floyd, Meters, Teastains,
Kinks, The Police, Bowie and Beatsofallkinds.
The team managed to distil a raw but melodic substance
from their instruments.
Currently hard at work in a secret location, the merry
band are testing their
findings in and around the Sheffield area, and plan to
take the formula further
afield.

THE PRESENT
Formed in July 2002, their intent, to produce
music that is creative and experimental, with
attitude, but without ego and pretence.
They are in the minority of bands who actually have
something new and refreshing to offer, with a rich
breadth of sound, and a real depth of emotion.
The Presents music defies convention. Each band member contributing to the sense of atmosphere and array of unique sounds within the songs. They use their instruments as precisely that, instruments, tools, for making sound, rather than just strumming the same chords in a slightly different order like a thousand bands before them. One of Sheffield's best kept secrets. Dark, hypnotic music with a psychedelic twist

LYCA SLEEP
Are a brooding, bliss-inducing, guitar band.
Their sound builds on dynamic atmospherics and heavy
grooves not unlike the late lamented Verve. After
playing gigs all over the country and at the Leeds
Festival, they are coming to Shush to round off their
year in fine style.

RUMPUS.
Are a band, currently based in Sheffield,
England, who would rather not be based anywhere, but
instead keep on moving around and around until
something really good or really bad happens to them
which it probably wIll....
Rumpus say “describing music with words is always a
hateful task so if you are actually interested in how
we sound come and see us live”
They are another band that have had a great year and
played some great gigs and are looking to build on the
progress thay have made.

Rounding the night off in fine style will be DeBUG
(SHUSH) playing twisted electro until 4am.

I can't stand the majority of indie music, it just annoys me. That's pretty surprising because I basically love music and can happily listen to most stuff but something about indie just winds me up, don't know why, just does!

What's .Zero like now anyway - haven't been for about 6 months and it was full of young pikey kids starting fights with a bit of speed garage every now and then. I've heard it's a lot better now, is it? :)

Might give it a go, dunno yet
