I think it would be better if sheffield fighters fight other fighters from different cities and there won't be any bad discussions on the forum. Can't wait to see jacob and woody again and maybe another fighter if farhad can fit him on. This show is going to grow and grow with that many fighters now coming forwards, yeeeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaa

Jazakhallah for your support. The best class for them so far would be Monday 830-930pm. When they get more experienced they will have access to more classes.
We are coming close to Christmas break now so the only class open over Christmas will be Monday anyway.

You have "heard" that about shane and joe? Granted Joe McGovan is younger but dont underestimate him. He hits almost as hard as Alex McKenzie!!!
Have you seen Joe McGovan? He is like a skycraper! He is 6'4" and still growing, wait till he his in his mid 20's . We are looking at another natural superheavyweight.
Shane Beard is by far the best kicker of all the SDF fighters. Both those guys have a large following too and are as well liked as Scot and Alex.

Your source probably doesnt know a great deal. Come along and spar with him if you have the guts. Which I very much doubt as you have to post under a pseudonym without revealing anything about your true identity.
He is possibly a step behind the likes of Shane Beard and Joe McGovan at present but still head and shoulders above ANY other sheffield based kickboxer at that weight.

Give me a list of names of Sheffield based kickboxers between 75 and 80kg at say local level and I can tell you who is a match for him and who would not stand a chance.

Truthfully though , those guys dont train like we do. Looking at the standard of their kicking I dont think they even use thaipads. They probably do flicky roundhouse kicks against focus mitts :hihi:

What does it matter wether you know his gym or not. Clearly you are not one with a great deal of knowledge so it does not matter if you have "heard of " his gym or not. The fact of the matter is that Jamie Sheppard has been avoided countless times. He has had a lot of fights cancelled on him at short notice. Also ROK-ARD have had a good realtionship with AFK for the past 8 or 9 years.
Well truthfully there was once a bit of rivalry :hihi: all in good sport obviously. We fought against each other countless times with differing results each time and hence earned each other's respect.

Grow up, no one said we are the best kickboxing gym in Sheffield. We are ONE of the best in Sheffield but to say we are the best would be arrogant to say the least.
I am always being asked if I am the best kickboxing coach in sheffield and to be honest its a silly question to ask.
There are plenty of good kickboxing clubs. Kapap and SDF are also forces to be reckoned with both of whom have very good fighters.

Now with regards to theorising and guessing results as such we rely upon subjective estimates.
Matchmakers match bouts as fair as possible based on previous fight records (as well as weight) and also based upon if they think it will make for a good match.

Logic dictates that Peter Buckley is not matched with Manny Pacquaio (spelling?) due to a large margin in terms of difference in ability.

Guessing results is perhaps a little premature, theorising happens in pretty much all sports where the result depends upon an aggregate of circumstances and attributes of both participants.

Sam Haliday ? Yousif and this young warrior clashed twice. For the Storm Force title fight, Sam weighed in almost 5 kg more than Yousif and had a dangerous left hook. Sam rocked Yousif with punches in their first battle which caused the referee to give Yousif an 8 count.

Yousif felt physically sick and had a headache after that fight!!!

Yousif gave away something like 4 and half kilo Put Yousif down in the first round , Yousif then got up and put HIM down in the first round for his trouble. :hihi:

Yousif also stepped up at short notice to face an opponent from Lincoln. His opponent weighed in at a whole 7kg more than Yousif !!!

I remember one sheffield fighter crying about 4kg on a LIGHT continuous (yes a LIGHT contact bout !!! ) bout at Showdown 3.

Yousif admittedly did stop that fighter and then went on to do a Demo match with a 67kg 26 year old Black belt on the undercard of Oxford Vs Cambridge university challenge.

Yousif fought against a Thaiboxer called Fezan in Manchester as a junior. I distinctly remember us all laughing at him as he was in pain from Fezans leg kicks.

Well you could say so. Mick Mullaney has personally trained and allowed me to train with his fighters etc. for the last 10 years, so as a thanks I film the annual Octagon show and produce the final DVD.
As I love the Martial Arts I find it personally satisfying to capture the fights and the training in many disciplines, mainly Muay Thai. (When I get time !!)

I'd like one day to video one of John G's Gracie Barra or one of Craig's Kepap sessions to see how it turns out. Hint Hint lol ;) , as I have never video'd grappling.

1) show should have started at 7pm but didn't kick off until 7:20pm. I get annoyed that these sort of events are always delayed and then the first fight is always two little chabbies (lets be honest, apart from the immediate families nobody cares).
2) Long interval in the middle of the show - personally I think it shouldn't be longer than 5 mins.

Overall, great night, a great success and I will definaltey go to the next one.

Nice one Farhad the show was deffo busier than before gutted about Ants fight with the tosspot not turning up , he should be banned from the sport! Nice to see all the fighters who train at AFK win! Even the guys who only train at AFK part time won their fights. Bring on may!!!

I don,t think it appropriate to offer to fight anyone on the nite... your on a win .win. situation, if you win its all good, if you lose.. "well I took the fight on 2 hours notice," so I think Ant made the right decision. Its not his fault anyway...

Thanks for that Craig appreciate that. Anyways shane did not offer me a fight on the night my coaches ask if I wanted to shane was not approached at the time if shane wants me to defend it against him I will but with notice I was let down twice and very disappointed

He had 2 people pull out on him, the first couldnt be helped due to health problems, the second couldnt even be arsed to turn up NOT ANTS FAULT ..... Ant was guttered as he trained his arse off for the last 8 week ......... he made the right decision for him and will gladly fight shane beard for the belt, but in the "proper" way, not with a few hours notice. Ant respects SDF, so no doubt they will end up having the fight ...... but no one has the right to say he should have fought shane the other night and wear his belt with pride. He can wear it with pride, he turned up ready to fight , and was let down ....... think bout it

Well said Superwoman, all this talk of Ant fighting Shane is like talking about Superman fighting Spiderman.
It has not been planned for the near future. It most likely will not happen in May but is a possibility for later on in the year or even next year. Why chase the match when they currently fight in different weight divisions anyway. It is up to trainers,managers and promoters to decide WHEN matches like this take place.
Once again Superwoman made this clear in her post and Lotar fully understands the situation.

Becky is a novice and she fought a novice. She happened to win as well , so im afraid I cant help you much more on that won.

Oh Gaz (yet another novice ) was not actually meant to fight he just stepped up with 2 days notice so as to fill a space in the card so as not to let someone down who had trained really hard for it.

I guess Gaz winning must mean an easy fight as well?
Well he did win every round with a knockdown in the last round if that makes Sammy No balls feel any better.

No point can't be botherd with him or her don't like the fact I got offered a title as if I'm gonna say no there are plenty of better fighters at a higher standard than northern area ie shane bearded he's British standard

what an excellent show been to a lot of boxing/kick/thai shows in the last few years and this one ranks up there amongst the best ones........... well done to the fighters and promoters

Was a fantastic show really well put together his best one so far nice one for giving the fighters a well done shame other people can't just do that

Ant you wont be the first or the last to pick up a belt this way it happens !! , Putting the disappointment aside you should be happy that you have got the belt, and are not walking about with Bruised shins and Ribs for the next week or so.
So turn the negative (8 weeks training and the other fighter not turning up) to a positive (continuous 16 weeks or more training) and show the next challenger you take on, what you have got.

Bravo Ant. I dont know why this sammy whatever his name is is trying to have a go at Ant. Ant is one of the hardest kickers in the gym his kick power is 2nd only to Farhads and everyone knows that he really can kick. I must admit i was gutted that AFK's 2 most exciting fighters Ant and Yousif werent on the show this time but seeing Bex and Gaz really was an inspiration specially as Gaz has come straight from beginners class and only been training in the more extrerme class for a few months.

Ant , of course he didn't want the belt in those circumstances , who would? , he sold a lot of tickets to friends and family, so it wasn't only him who were let down on the night by the no show.

and Gaz , well im a mate of Gaz , and a few nights before he was offered to face Chris who was prepared for a fight. Gaz at first wanted a demo bout with Chris and was worried as he didn't know anything about Chris and is only a novice with 1 interclub and a few sparring sessions in class. But he thought sod it and took the fight and he again like Beccy just happened to be stronger on the night.
