Tesco has now confirmed that it will be offering the iPhone 3G and 3GS on its Tesco Mobile service, both on pay-monthly and PAYG.
There’s no word yet on prices, but the hope is that Tesco will offer a slightly more competitive deal than Orange, whose tariff’s matched O2’s almost penny-for-penny when it became the second UK mobile operator to offer the iPhone.
Tesco Mobile is a joint venture between Tesco and O2, however, so no matter how good a deal the supermarket offers on the iPhone, network coverage will be the same as on the O2 network.
Tesco will be selling the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS through in-store Tesco Phone Shops and online through Tesco Direct. There’s no news yet on when the iPhone will be available, but you can register your interest with Tesco Direct.

Well Tesco's a shop... Why is this news?

Because up 'til now O2 or CarPhone Warehouse have had the monopoly of where you can buy it from ( other than be ripped off by people selling 2nd hand).

Tesco will most likely sell at a significantly lower prices, than they do. too.

They're partnered with O2 and are just selling their package.
