I have decided after 3 years of being single that I should start making a little effort to find a new mate. It seems that prince charming is not going to find me. My clubbing days are almost over im 35 and my circle of friends seems to have gotten smaller and smaller.

Does anyone know any good speed dating agencies? What exactly happens? Is it expensive? Is it safe to go alone?

I really have no idea what to expect.

Any help would be much apprecitate! Thanks :)

I have been thinking about organising some kind of speed dating evening, but someone told me there wouldn't be much interest. Maybe I will look into it again.

Hia,

I've been speed dating and its quite good fun, Ive been twice. Haven't met any nice men, but have met some excellent girlfriends to go out with.. Only I could go speed dating and pull a girl! anyway...

I went alone the first time (the 2nd with my new found friend) and although its scary initially, everyone is in the same boat and are all chatty. It was very safe.

They hold speed dating events in Vodka Rev and they usually fall on a Monday nite. They are split into age ranges, so you wouldn't be chatting to an 18yr old.

Go onto the speed dating website and have a look. uve got nothing to lose.

The speeddater.co.uk, it costs £20 a go.

You get a score card and you can score the men as YES, NO or FRIEND. U enter your 'ticks' the next morning on the website and wait and see if u got any matches. If u don't tick anyone i think u get a free go next time..

Check out the Sheffield Telegraph listings I think they put in what places are doing a speed dating night. I know Vodka Rev do one and Greens Gym.

Dunno if you have to pay on the door but presume you do. 2 friends of mine have been brave enough to go. One is actually still seeing his match !!! And he is sooo in love it makes me puke. The other one did not meet anyone but they did have a good laugh with the other girls who were thereand they all meet up once a month for a girlie night out so it's a result if not a snog.

They both said they nearly backed out at the door but said they'd do it again now. The others there all seemed genuine and just as nervous. Let us know if you go!

I would need one where you can pay on the door as I dont have a credit card to pay on line.

I am a confident person but just the thought of this is making my teeth chatter! lol

Thanks for the info.........

I went one with my flatmate the other week.

Its actually a right good laugh. Didn't really meet anyone who floated my boat but still i did (i am suprised to say) really enjoy myself.

So, Id defintely go to another one - I'm just not going expecting to meet the next Mrs Saifa.

In my single days I was a member of www.datingdirect.co.uk - it was great fun and cheaper than most online dating agencies.

Its free to join and you can store your "favourites" as a free member, but in order to send them messages or read any messages that have been sent to you you have to join up as a full member - however you can join for 3 days for £5 so I used to wait til I had a promising message or saw someone i really wanted to contact - you could save them all up and do it once a month even rather than paying a monthly fee. Bonus was that you could pay them by cheque or postal order if you didnt want to pay online.

They also arrange events at nightclubs etc in each area with drinks promo's etc that are member only and have speed dating areas and stuff...

You got your share of freaks and wierdos but over the year I went on 20 or so dates and had a really good laugh! I would definately recommend it!
