dunno if it'll work at AT but it always helps if you're trying to get through a crowd:

Pretend you're gonna be sick :D

walk round to the hotel entrance, there is no queue there and the gate opens ealier. They don't sell the tickets though, you'd need it in advance.

Go on a weekday not during school holidays, preferably when it's absolutely tipping it down.

Best bits of advance I can give you.

Go on schooldays, preferably Mon-Wednesdays as the park is quiet then, also if you can go in crappy weather that should mean an empty park and a ride on Nemesis is even eviler.

Also- my major tip for anyone going to AT.

If you book online with AT, get the £30 shortcut tickets.
I cannot scream enough just how good these tickets are.

The pass you get allows you to get straight to the front of the queue on Air, Nemesis, Oblivion and The Flume.

But the best bit is, say if its tipping it down with rain and you cant be arsed with The Flume- take the pass back to customer services near the AT Entrance and ask them if you can swap the flume ride for a ride on another attraction ie: Air.

They will give you a new pink pass with the new ride on it.

Its brilliant and you really do feel like a VIP pushing passed all the people waiting in the queues.

they have a strict queue jump policy. i've seen people thrown out of the queues for doing it (of course someone had to grass on them).

best thing to do is get VIP tickets - costs more but you can go in special entrance at front of ride.

on really busy days on the big rides they have tickets (can't remember what they are called?) where you go to the ride and get a ticket to come back at a certain time - then you queue for maybe 20/30 mins only.

have a great time !!! i'm soooo jealous - love love love Alton Towers.

p.s don't be fooled by Rita Queen of Speed. It looks rubbish and really not that fast at all, certainly not 0-100 in 2.5 seconds but when you get on it - it will blow you away !

Just to echo what others have said, get the passes.

If you try and queuejump you WILL be caught and in the most extreme case kicked out of the park.

If you don't mind who you ride with use the Single Rider Queue (it fills all the single seats on the ride).

dont skip queues. when i went last year a group of black guys(no racial slur intended) jus walked to the front threatening to 'do in' anyone who tried to stop them & i quote 'man woman child i dont care jus dont talk to me or ill do any of you in'. some people did and it was getting ugly but they got pretty far infront in a pretty long queue. the security there sucks. no i didnt make this up.

everyone goes to these places for the same reason, how would you feel if you had to wait longer just cos someone else couldn't be bothered to wait.....i'd be annoyed! The queue jump tickets are great, if the queues bother people that much, at least theres an alternative now. Hope you had a good time.

"Happy Sole" time!

Don't forget that the queues are part of the design.
