Novembers AGM theme will be the continued community use of the Wisewood School site after the possible closure of the school in 2011, it will feature a presentation from Paul Bridges from the Development Trust Association about other communities that have seen old school sites being developed for community purposes. Nick Waterfield of Hillsborough Forum said: “The decision to close this school has been a blow to many people in Wisewood and the area, but it is now important to make sure that the site is still used to provide a community focus for the area. We’ve been working with Wisewood Community Sports Centre and others to start thinking about how we can secure the site for community use, and how it can still remain an important community asset for this neighbourhood.” He continued, “Councillors have previously said that the site should be kept for community use, but we want to make sure that the ideas for those new uses are developed and supported by local people.”
