Anybody know about it rothschild 06-08-2005, 01:16 ?????? I have lived here for the past 19 years and know of no quarry in the vicinity. As for swimming in a reservoir........not recommended under any circumstances! We do have underbank reservoir but bear in mind it is just that......a reservoir and not a swimming pool. These places are dangerous places and are not built for swimming in. There has been many a young life lost from swimming in reservoirs. Please take heed and do not attempt to swim in ANY reservoir. We do have a leisure centre in Stocksbridge though........you would be more than welcome to swim there. rothschild 06-08-2005, 01:28 Oooooops! forgot which board I was on! Sorry Randolf...thought you were asking where to swim! I now know you were asking for info regarding a disused quarry or reservoir that used to be used for swimming. My mistake and I apologise. I still can't help though because I don't know of anywhere locally that would have been used for swimming. Perhaps somebody else has some information? We do have a lot of water around us though so perhaps at some time underbank was used for swimming? I do think that the Police underwater team use underbank for practice purposes........and of course the fishermen love it. |
