View Full Version : Looking for a business partner in a new web venture
antwest1986 18-11-2009, 15:37 I'm 22 and have been working online for the last 3 years, i have alot of knowledge on how the web works,
i have a real business plan that has already been seen by the banks and accountants and have told me, it's a brilliant plan with no faults.
i already run websites online that make monthly income, but i'm wanting to go into a full blown power web business,
i've sold websites before that have fecthed up to £25,000 for 1 website alone,
my idea of this business, is to acquire profitable websites (new and established) that make a monthly profit,
a typical website worth is 10 x's the monthly income
A Website that pulls in £100 a month will sell for £1000 and so on..
My plan, which is more detailed then the message i write here,
The new business will acquire established websites with monthly income of a certain amount ie. £500 per month x 10 would bring a monthly income of £5000 which can easily be doubled to £10,000 per month
it has the potentiol to turn into a multi million pound business within years if done properly.
How quickly this can grow?
1. Acquire 10 established sites earning £1000 per month
2.Hire 1 person to take care of those 10 sites - thus chance to earn bonuses if the income is kept at a certain standard
3. Acquire 10 more established sites earning £1000 per month
And so on, with the sites that the business would own
1 website that has earned £1,000 per month for 4 months straight would fetch up to £10,000 sold - which i know many places brokers etc...
my detailed plan has been seen by banks and accountants to which have all said it's a great plan,
but i'm looking for a partner to really have a go and build a profitable busines,
i have the knowledge of sites and how to turn them into making money, but i don't have the business head side of the business
This is what i already do on a daily business but obviously not on this high scale, i currently make just over £3,000 per month through doing this with the odd 1 or 2 sites, so the potentiol is there.
someone with a business head that has either had a business before or someone my age with internet experience willing to have a crack.
it's a business i'd rather run with someone rather then alone.
Any thoughts or comments will be took in ;)
indizine 18-11-2009, 17:23 you will need to be more specific than saying someone with a business head. What skills do you actually need to join you? 'someone your age with internet experience' is unlikely to have a good grounding of business knowledge and also you say you have a good understanding of the internet so why duplicate your own strengths?
Congrats on having an internet business that is doing so well. Its really the holy grail of internet marketing.
First off, I'd go limited company. You pay less tax that way. Online business accounts are generally simple so its not going to cost too much for an accountant to file your end of year accounts.
I was like you but ended up getting a job. You get a regular wage then and can be more aggressive with your internet marketing. When I going it alone I always had in the front of my mind, what if google whacked me or I got cloned. Its almost impossible to mitigate that risk.
I don't think you need a business head to do what you are doing. Online businesses defy conventional economics. No where else can you get the 1000% returns or companies exist that make nothing that are sold for millions. Apart from a good accountant, I doubt any old business heads will be able to help you.
Finding a business partner is really hard. Once you have shared your knowledge, what stops them cloning you? If you don't share your knowledge, what are the chances that they will trust you? If you can work out the answer to that problem, I'd be interested in partnering but I don't think there is an answer. The internet is a dirty place.
I have a plan! When can we meet up? YHAPM (You Have A PM)
sharpend 19-11-2009, 07:28 Where does the revenue come from?
Adsense by any chance?
I'm a little wary that banks and accountants have seen the plan and said it has "no" faults. Unless your a serial entrepreneur chances are anyone with any knowledge would pick it apart.
For that reason antwest1986 I'm out. lol.
I do wish you good luck though mate
If you went to the banks, I take it you were looking for funding, how much?
If so why did the bank not lend?
What sites have you sold for 25k? I have also sold sites in this range.
What sites do you own and maintain that pull in 3k per month?
Do you own any trademarks? quality domains?
Why do you really want a partner? From what you say you could do it from the comfort of your own home and take all the money. Nothing wrong with a few joint ventures but a long term partnership has many downfalls.

I will Pm you soon, Can't really meet up as such yet. I have a bad case of the flu :(

Never use adsense, no point i do not see how anyone can make any income from google adsense, unless they have multiple websites with a heap load's of traffic daily. So i don't waste my time with google, I've also heard and seen many bad experiences with google which put's me off!
There are alot more and better way's of earning from website's then by using google adsense.

I only went to the bank to open up a business account and also advice on how to take this further on, there is no need for funding.
I've built this up from zero, not used a penny when i started up. The site i sold for 25k was a online free watch movie site, where visitors had to fill out a survey to watch a free films online, the income for that site was averaging around £1,800 per month.
Site's i currently own are CPA site's which use sneaky blackhat tactics. But is alot harder to keep the income flowing. See i've worked on my own for 3 years now, Which get's boring at home by yourself, so the idea is create a full blown business that get's me back into a working enviroment.
indizine 19-11-2009, 15:51 I wouldnt have admitted to the blackhat stuff if I were you. In any case it's a chance you take using those tactics.

Well it's not serious Blackhat.... Just blackhat marketing techniques, Which all those site's are hosted offshore in china.
Yes, Blackhat techniques are always a chance, I only technically do the techniques for curiosity and how they work. but they still bring a good income without much work.
But my main objective is to build a web power business, all above board.
Website flipping is nothing new. Please tell us more about yourself and how exactly you plan to add value to this venture.

Look, you do sound talented but, how black are your tactics?
I won't insult you by asking whether the survey for free movies site was legal, no, actually I will, was it? Were these new release movies at the cinema at the same time as on your site? ;) Either way I'm not judging you, just asking. Pm me if you like.
Couldn't this all get a little messy if the traffic from the sites you sell drop through the floor when the new owners have had them a short while?
Sheff Laser 19-11-2009, 16:18 You give a lot of good information and sound like you're doing well. My mum always says when something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. So for that reason, I'm out :)

The tatics are more a less GREY not illegal but used in way, people would never think of. Yes the survery was legal, the surveys are provided by companys like Coca cola, Argos, Provident, Sainsburys etc....
There were a few new movie releases, but mainly just over 4000 films (released on dvd) were on the site but nothing was hosted on my server only linked.
See, with site's i see it as just like a property investor (virtual). Website's can become assets valued very high. With website sales i do have contracts that are signed by both parties covering problems in the future - Ie- domain name ownership/ or as you say problems with traffic.
I've never had any problems from buyers of my site's after they have been sold. I did have one site that i sold for £3,000 which had a income of £300 per month was later sold for £40,000+ 3 month's later (not by me), Which i was a bit peeved of as i missed that potentiol.

Hey, thems the breaks, sounds good though. I certainly wouldn't be put off by you, very honest in fact for a public forum, just that I don't really understand why you need anyone else. What is your ideal structure?
indizine 19-11-2009, 16:49 There is nothing to suggest you are not a bright young entrpreneur, but I suggest this is not the right place to look for a partner. Go to proper business partner/investor websites where serious business people register, even pay for membership, because they are serious If you are all what you say you are, those with more nouse than you will spot your talent.
I think indizine is wrong. I am a serious investor with 10 years business experience ranging from Commercial Printing and Software to Digital Marketing and Property and have met people on Sheffield Forum.

I believe you have already contacted my Business Partner at Digtheweb.
I've sent you a PM.

indizine 20-11-2009, 21:25 Sheffield Forum is not where serious business investors hang out - and with 19 posts clearly you don't hang out on Sheffield Forum. Now do you see what I mean?
If someone is earning £100 per month profit from a website, why would they sell it to you for £1000? What kind of websites are you talking about buying?
