Some people believe that large cats (possibly panthers) are living wild in Britain. Has there been any sighting near Sheffield? I seem to remember reading about one in the Bradfield area some time back.

It was the Lincolnshire Wolds one I think, but it was confirmed by someone or other. Been made fact mate. mjlacey21 04-08-2005, 17:10 They had that beast of bodmin in Cornwall a few years back - my aunt works in some type of humane solution thingy job - she was on the committee trying to help it get caught and moved safely. But it never be found... oooooh mysterious! roger 04-08-2005, 17:51 one was seen near aston i believe and im sure there was a link on here somewhere about these Internetowl 04-08-2005, 22:09 I've also seen some big 'rats' around the area, felt sure one the other day was a dog , until it stopped, raised on its back legs and then left via the pedestrian crossing back to the alley at Firth Park.. tazman 04-08-2005, 22:10 Thats right Roger, there was a sighting over our way at Aston but I think it was a while ago and a chap saw it on the fields to the right after you pass the Red Lion pub at Todwick traffic ligths as you head out on the A 57 towards South Anston. Don_Kiddick 04-08-2005, 22:48 I saw the Aston/ Swallownest one myself in the late 80's early 90's. Me & a mate were walking home to Anston from Crystal Peaks cos we'd missed the last bus after the cinema. It was well after midnight & it ran across the road in front of us about 200 yards away. Too big to be a domestic or ferral pussy, too fluid ('sexy- cat-like') to be a mutt. Fareast 05-08-2005, 04:00 I wonder why people are always looking at Big Cats and reporting them. Can't a Big Cat have any privacy at all ? I mean , aren't they entitled to nip out at night for a couple of rabbits or a drink ? I know if I were a Big Cat , minding my own business at midnight , near Aston , and Don and his mate came bearing down on me , in the dark , I'd skedaddle across the road too. milkycoffee 05-08-2005, 10:46 There was two panthers living in Matlock about two years ago they was last seen, they escaped from a zoo, and were never caught, don't know where they are now, not heard any thing for ages ANGELUS 05-08-2005, 12:09 Originally posted by Don_Kiddick I saw the Aston/ Swallownest one myself in the late 80's early 90's. A big black one! brewnog 06-08-2005, 12:50 Big Cats Spotted If it's spotted, it's a leopard. If it's striped, it's a tiger. slimsid2000 06-08-2005, 14:00 Originally posted by Don_Kiddick I saw the Aston/ Swallownest one myself in the late 80's early 90's.
