Recently separated and have decided to do all the things I dreamed of doing, starting with learning how to dance properly.
I'm not and absolute novice and actually do possess some rhythm and timing. I would love to salsa and learn latin american.
Does anyone have any pointers or know of any classes in the region.
Many thanks in advance.

If you're free on a Friday afternoon, try the new Salsa class at St Timothy's Church Hall, Slinn St, Crookes. The teacher is Ivan Rodrigo Garcia and he is excellent. It's a small class - about 8 people, so you get personal tuition. Beginners at 1.30. Intermediate at 2.15, or you can stay for both classes at reduced cost. £4 for one class or £6 if you do both.

Based on the recommendations I've heard, the best salsa lessons around are those in the Forum on Division St on Tuesdays. But I can't swear to that because I'm not a great fan of salsa. (Apart from the obsession with the correct footwork, you need a certain beat from the music to dance it.)
If you're also considering other styles, I'd recommend modern jive as easy to learn, infinitely variable (basically, it shamelessly steals any moves we fancy from any other style) and can be danced to just about any kind of music.
I'd recommend Blitz at Crookes Social Club any Wed or Thur evening 7.30pm (www.blitzjive.com) because they're the biggest in the area so you get plenty of people to dance with. Ceroc run classes in Woodseats on Tuesday nights, and there are enough small independents to dance the same style pretty much any night of the week.
