I will always remember getting to appreciate his acting in Callan.

I was never a fan of Callan - too young at the time. i "liked" the first series of The Equalizer, then it went the way of so many US series.

I remember him in The Equalizer.

RIP.

A great actor. Callan was a superb series (thank you Channel 4 for repeating the surving episodes in the 1980s).

I used to love the Equalizer. It was the one night of the week my foster mum used to let me stay up later, just so I could watch it.

RIP Edward.

RIP Edward. I think I missed most of his TV series because I didn't watch TV for most of my youth, but if you look at his filmography he did an amazing variety of work, particularly as guest and one off roles later in his life.

I just found out by receiving a text which read 'ewar woowar is ea!' so it's a good job I heard that joke too.

Good call. I recently watched this series again and it was as good as the first time round, with an excellent performance from him.

He was also one of the first to be in the "what do you call a man with xxxxxx" jokes!

R.I.P. Edward, what a legend. The Equalizer has got to be one of the greatest shows ever made.

I don't think Edward Woodward played Mr Chips. Robert Donat, Peter O'Toole have, and more recently Martin Clunes.

Ive read where The Wicker Man was received to critical reviews, but later became a cult film to watch. I have yet to see it. Also Edward Woodward was a trained Shakespearian actor before appearing on tv & films.

Its great, really atmospheric and heavy with dread. FGS don't bother with the awful remake!

Loved the Equalizer with Woodward driving around New York in his Jag in those leather gloves, very cool.

How I wished I was the equalizer and his daughter in the Equalizer was Liz Hurley.....not bad eh;)
