I think they're just beefing up security with it being 4 weeks since 7/7 and two weeks since the attempted bombings (two week pattern??). I'm sure it's more for the public and the perception of safety more than anything. If some guy is going to bomb, nothing will stop him.

I expexct to see ourt stations up here in Sheffield manned too.

I think you'll find that the media have sensationalised that today is four weeks since 7/7, and also that it appears, on the surface, that there is a two-week rule!

The fact is that there has been extra security in London ever since the bombings on 7/7 and, in truth, today is no different from any other day in the past four weeks.
