I was thinking other day it should be fairly straight forward to setup a simple wireless network in the area I live to other houses for the purposes of network games (xbox/PC)....

Would anyone be interested?

Area:
Hunter Road/Taplin Road in Hillsborough

Please don't answer with techie - how u gonna do it/it cant be done cheaply type replies - that is not relevant to the question ;)

If you get as far as langsett rd I'm up for it,
We sell wireless stuff you know (Very PC), so you can have a discount on the products for this.
Also we have a leased line, so we could arrange for broadband over wifi?

and if you make it that far we could probably get it to me on walkley lane.

802.11n has the highest range out of the box, stick some high gain antennas on the access points... (Sorry, that would be pre n kit as it's not certified yet).
Google is showing figures of 500 ft, another test stops at 400ft still achieving 15MB/s link speeds... And these are without high gain aerials...

I have a vague memory of something to do with Mesh or meshes when setting up a wifi network like this, anyone want to do some research?

edit to add - just read a bit more of an article and the belkin pre-n kit (which gets the best results of those on test) doesn't support repeating or bridging, which is kind-of crucial for what we're after, nor does it have the standard connector for high gain aerials :-( Doh.
