....and its a whopping great frog in my cellar! i went down to read the meters this morning and check the flow rate as it chucked it down royally here last night- and there it was, sat calm as you like next to my impromptu pond.

what do i do?

i really like frogs so have no issue with trying to manhandle it out of the cellar- but i dont know if thats what i should be doing.

aren't frogs supposed to hibernate? theres surely nothing the poor beastie can eat in the cellar so i am a bit worried it might starve and ultimately die....and i dont think i would deal very well with being responsible for that, or for moving its probably rotting carcass.

i have no idea how the blighter has managed to get in, its about 3inches long so im sure it must have been too big to get through the grate or even through the wall where the water is coming in. and being as the water is going out through a drain to the main sewer, im fairly confident it didnt get in that way!

anyway, help!

The best solution is to take it and place it next to a nearby pond and let nature take its course.

What a shock though:o

I'd definitely put it outside as I doubt it'd be able to get out of your cellar by itself. It should really be hibernating at the moment so put it somewhere it can hide, but not too far from your house so it knows where it is...

hmmm, it looks like a fairly urgent trip to hillsborough park tomorrow then.

there are far too many cats round here to just dump it out and as far as im aware, there is no really suitable habitat for it in the surrounding streets.

im still completely bemused as to how the poor thing got in- unfortunately ive only just got home and its too late to be trampping about down there to check on it.

fingers crossed its made its own way out, but ill check tomorrow.

well, the good news is my unexpected cellar guest has disappeared of his own accord.

ive been down this morning and checked every nook and cranny with a torch so i can only assume hes decided to take his chance in the sewer to become an amazing crimefighting ninja frog.
