If the xbox isn't chipped / modded, Microsoft will repair it for free if it is still under the extended warranty.

u just get in contact wi the xbox people and post it on its holidays to germany and they fix it for free x

I believe the warranty as been extended to 3 years, my son as had his repaired twice without any problems, get in touch with Microsoft direct rather than going through the shop where you bought it.

Usually its overheating, if you are not on it for hours on end and haven’t got it in a confined space you might be one of the lucky ones.

if you mean doing the bolt fix thats just tempary and eventually it will go again, just send the OP some hints on doing it theirself not with the bolt fix, with the solution i did with mine and its been going for a good while now id say about 6 or 7 months:)

i got the ring of death about 2 months ago. i sent it to be repaired to germany and had it back within 9 days. even the postage is free. couldnt grumble at all

i do the towel trick with mine been doing it for ages once done takes 15 mins it will last about 1 /to 2 weeks before it goes again if u dont play on it to often are out of warranty ect.. i would do that

Exactly, we're waiting for postage labels to be emailed to us as we speak. The date of manufacture is on the back of the console with the serial number.

tell you the truth i dont think they even bother to look at them...think you will get a new one hopefully .takes aboute to weeks plus you can track it on line ..

Oh thats not bad at all. My sons gone to france this morning with school so will be gutted to come home to no Xbox, at least I can tell him it wont be long!!

You don't send them the hard drive. You keep your own hard drive and put that on the unit they send back so nothing happens to your data.

Yeah, don't send them anything other than the Xbox itself. No hard drive, memory card, cables, discs or controllers, as they don't guarantee that anything other than the console itself will be returned. If there is a disc trapped inside (as mine did) then there is a method of opening the disc drawer while the Xbox is switched off, using the little holes under the DVD tray. There is a full guide on the Xbox support website.
Microsoft seem to be doing a pretty good job with getting Xboxs returned now. I recently sent mine back (for the second time :() and they returned it fully working in 8 days! :)

Hi, UPS came and collected in within the hour (on Friday), it was repaired/replaced by Wednesday and had a 'departure scan' in Tamworth at 3:20 this morning so Im hoping to get it back on Monday. Great service, really impressed!!

depending if it goes to Germany or Spain... Germany you should get it back unfixed if you pay£19.99 unless the price has changed.

Spain you get a letter telling you have damaged Microsoft property and voided warranty...they give you an item number and you have to organise your own pick up and shipping.


Sources : working for crappy shipping company call centre explaining this over and over again.
