Donovan was very popular in the early 70s. His soundtrack from Franco Zeffirelli’s
‘Brother Sun, Sister Moon’ (1973), a dramatization of events in the life of St. Francis of Assisi, is quite beautiful.
His other hits include:
Lalena
Mellow Yellow
and Lazy Day
Agreed CW ... Brother Sun, Sister Moon ... completely beautiful ... a lot of Donovan's music has this kinda 'mystical fairytale edge' ... simply magical.
Some of his more well known hits were:
Colours
Catch the Wind
Jennifer Junniper
Hurdy Gurdy Man
Sunshine Superman
But I kinda like a lot of his less we known stuff ...
He's gone downhill since Kylie ditched him. (http://homepages.shu.ac.uk/~sphayes/donovan.txt)
Hmm ... if anyone mentions the name 'Jason' in connection with this thread ...
interested JamieW, might not be able to make it. dont know yet.
Joan Baez is playing at the city hall on 21st jan. that would be cool also:banana:
ps. tin soldier is one of my favourite songs, universal soldier also.
