Really sad :(

We'd been wondering why we hadn't seen him around on the 53 bus ....

It was in The Star not so long ago about him :( What a shame...We need more friendly characters on our buses...

Yes Big John was indeed a real gentleman I worked with him and knew him for almost twenty years at Herries Garage & Olive Grove Garage. he could engage and talk eloquently on almost any subject you care to mention.

Yeah I remember him in the Dev, stood at the end of the bar with Lee Van Clief and Co. I know he used to catch the Number 2 and if it was late he used to rollock the driver..

You used to work in the Dev didnt you?

R.I.P Big Guy

Indeed a great man,I was given loads of pointers from him when I started at first and always valued his advice.
He never had a bad word to say about anyone, always polite and friendly a great character and will be missed.

According to my old man,his famous pipe was rarely if ever, lit whilst actually driving-guess in this no smoking age a man with a pipe lit or not would raise a few eyebrows:D
