Hi,
My 3 year old son has been recently diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and I was wondering if any other people was in the same situation as me? I'm looking to see if there are any support groups for parents with special needs children in Sheffield? I would be gratefull for any advice?
Thankyou in advance! :)

Have you been in touch with the national Cerebral Palsy society, "SCOPE"? They have a free helpline. 0808 800 3333

Contact SIGN at Ryegate, or Paces :)

SIGN
Sheffield Information Link (SIL) offers support for families with disabled children through an extension to its service called Sheffield Information Giving Network (SIGN). SIGN is based at the Ryegate Children's Centre and is a free information service for disabled children and young people and their families, and the professionals who support them. SIGN brings together Health, Social Services and Education, plus voluntary agencies to offer an integrated information service.

This is a great site, particularly, section titled special needs support. Really worth exploring.

Hi fimble, I'm sure ryegate will have told you about the groups they run there, such as the motor group and the 'school for parents' group. They are worth going to.
The sure start centre at Firth Park has a sensory room that can be privately booked, I'm not sure what your sons exact disabilities are but its a lovely calming room :)
The special needs kids uk website is also a very good site to look on, there is also a forum and LOTS of useful information.
The STEPS charity offers loans of switch adapted toys and switches for children who struggle to play with the usual shop bought toys.
If I think of anything else I'll let you know.
Can you PM me about the bike as well please? :)
