Can anyone explain the temorary traffic lights located at the roundabout at Fir Vale / Page Hall where they are doing the road improvements. They seem to serve no other purpose other than causing extra uneccessary delays!

You've hit the nail on the head Meeks. They serve no purpose!

I can't understand why there is a temporary one-way system outside the school... where there's no road works, no large obstructions, nowt. Then, on the road they divert you along, they are sticking some new speed bumps. Surely a better solution would be to close the road they are working on and let traffic flow. It probably makes sense to someone somewhere.

O I dont know, I found them quite entertaining yesterday, when some guys car broke down in front of them, then the lorry at the front of our queue (Meadowhall - HIllsborough road) decided to pull out on the car coming from the left of us (the green light there lets both lots of traffic go at the same time :loopy:

Fun and games also when some 'arris decided that he'd by pass the diversion and take a short-cut down one of the side roads, only to end up going the wrong way on the one way bit. Then he had the nerve to shout at me for blocking his way!

I don't suppose it you've ever taken the '5 point Fir Vale' driving test?

Take a look here (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?postid=521677#post521677) (Thank you lestat)

Mind you, we'll have to make it the six point test now :)

Heh, I like that! Although Lestat needs to include this gem:

If cars are already parked on pavement, park on Yellow lines. If Yellow lines are full, operate a "3-tier system" by parking up (hazards optional) in carriageway.

They'd switched 'em off tonight

They had also randomly closed half of the other road. Think they must have contracted the Chuckle Brothers to do the work. :loopy:

I come that way ever day and found a bit of a shortcut last two days but ended up driving through the middle of a film crew?!? Anyone know anything about that? They were in the street next to the road works. Anyway it wasn't as bad tonight they seemed to be letting people go down the street that doesn't have road works without waiting at the lights. The whole thing is a joke though.
