View Full Version : Would you go to hospital now or in the morning?
Babooshka 06-11-2009, 19:04 My son has been so ill since last night. It has got progressively worse throughout the day. He has a cough and a cold, as do I, which leads me to think that that is exactly what it is. However, this pm, he has been crying on and off, and this eve is really short of breath, and wheezy, and is whimpering. I have given all the usual medications and tlc, but am a little concerned. I think that if he is still like this in the morning I will whip him down to the hospital. Any medical bods know if there is anything out there like this at the mo? He did have his pre-school boosters on Tues, and I was also wondering if these symptoms might stem from that. Advice welcome.

If you are concerned then you need to ring NHS Direct and get proper advice!!!
Babooshka 06-11-2009, 19:11 Just picking up the phone now!
agreed nhs direct would be my first point of call, or the out of hours gp service. hope he's better soon. x x x
Plain Talker 06-11-2009, 23:19 Hope the little man is ok, Babooshka.
Remember the things to watch out for, like a rash that won't go when a clear glass is pressed against it, and aversion to light as well as a stiff neck.
duckweed 07-11-2009, 18:16 I would phone a doctor if he has problems breathing and ask if you should take him to childrens hospital as he might need some help. Keep an eye on his temperature and make sure he is kept cool.
Linzi 1984 07-11-2009, 21:13 My daughter started with this from Tuesday i phoned NHS direct who told me to get the doctor to check her breathing. I went to the doctors who said she had a bit of cold. It sounded so much worse than a cold to me but anyway i did what they told me to give her calpol and make sure she is drinking and eating and now she is fine. But if you are really worried i would take him down to childrens for your peace of mind,
Hope he is ok keep us informed x
Trust your instincts. I've found NHS direct really useful in helping me get perspective, but always trust your instincts cos you know your child better than anyone.
Hope the little one's ok.
Babooshka 26-01-2010, 07:33 Long absence, but he is 'okay'. Good job I got to hospital. Made it just in time. I stayed with him in there for three days and nights. He does have asthma. He took the brown inhaler for six weeks, and then seemed much better. Has not taken anything for past few weeks, until last night. He had another attack. Unfortunately, he is down at his dads. I was getting dressed at midnight to drive down south, but, his inhaler helped, and, his dad is bringing him up today so I can get him some proper care. Blimey. If it's not one thing, it's something else at the moment!
