Let me just start by saying I dont know anything about cats LOL.
There has been a little cat - sort of tabby colours, that has been coming and sitting on our doorstep everyday since Sunday. Didnt think much of it at first. We have a lot of cats around where we live, and a lot of them run across our front and back garden as a short cut to the hill behind our house. I recognise a lot of them now , but havent noticed this one before Sunday. Yesterday she was around on the doorstep a LOT, but did disappear off last night. Then today she has appeared again when I was going out to take DD to nursery and I have noticed she has a sore - dried blood and a bald patch - on her chest just uner her chin. It is a smallish area, and didnt seem to be causing her too much discomfort , but now I am worried for her that she may be lost or something... I couldnt let her in the house (and wouldnt any way as I assume she is someones cat LOL) as the dog would go nuts! and I had to take DD to nursery so couldnt really do anything with her. When I got back from nursery she had gone... But not sure what to do if she turns up again... I really dont want to interfere with someone elses cat - but is it possible she is lost do you think and in need of help? She does have a collarr on - a sort of mustard yellow colour suede one with a bell but no tag. She doesnt look under weight, and looks well cared for apart from this sore that I discovered today.
So cat people what should I do if she comes back ? She is a grogeous little thing, and I hate to think that she might need help and I am ignoring her not wanting to encourage someone elses cat....
Also my poor doggy is going frantic sitting on the window sill looking out at her as she sits on our front door mat....LOL

Any tips? Or anyone know her or whose she might me just to reasure me she is OK and not lost! We are in Treeton. BTW.:help:
(oh and I have been saying she , but havent checked and "she" could be "he" LOL);)

I think if it was me I would just keep a discreet eye on the cat and do nothing yet, she sounds well cared for and may just have had a bit of an accident that the owners will probably sort out once she goes back home.
I would only do something if she seems distressed and in pain, or looks neglected.

thanks moonbird. Yes thats sort of what I thought. She definately doesnt look neglected , so like you say may just have had an accident that will be sorted. She didnt seem particularly ditressed or in pain. Will just keep an eye out for her. (although my doggy seems to be doing that as she is glued to the front window as I type LOL) Think maybe the little cat is just enjoying winding my doggy up LOL!

Is she a longhaired cat? It could be a mat that she has pulled out herself a lot of cats do this, as mats are uncomfortable for them. If you are still worried in a few days or so then get in touch and I will pop out and scan her for a microchip. At least if she is someones cat and they have bothered to get her chipped, then we can contact them and we know all is well.

If she is longhaired then feel her to check her weight, long hair is deceiving and she could be a skeleton underneath?

I have 3 cats that l think were strays, I dont believe that a well cared for cat will just wander off if it gets fed and can get some warmth and love, One l have had for 6 years, l about 3 years, and the lastest one about 3months. I keep a look out for posters in shops etc to see if they have a home, but never seen any. None of mine have ever wandered off and not come home, so l think it is a bit of a myth that they run away, afterall no one is going to admit that they just chucked an animal out of the house.

aries22 are you mad! It's people like you that force me to jeep my cats inside. You are techinically stealing other peoples cats. Someone could be very upset about not having their cat.
Cats do run off they do not know the boundaries of ones garden. If I was to take in every cat that 'strayed' onto my garden I'd have a housefull.

Well I yes that is why I have been ignoring her cause I assume she is someone elses cat,but just odd how much time she has spent on my doorstep and now concerned about her sore, and would hate to think she was lost and in need of help andI had been ignoring her... However she hasnt reappeared so am hoping she is back home warm and safe.
As it is I have my hands full here on the pet front cause my doggy has just started her first season, and now next door is having fireworks.... poor doggy not happy.....off for some doggy cuddles!

Aries 22 I may have misinterpreted your post. From what you posted, to me it sounded like you take cats that wander into your garden then keep them if no one puts up a poster. If people chipped their pets there would be no debate.
Loupoppins I agree that you should just keep an eye on your little visitor. Keep us updated.
