You know that bit where you spedn ages putting it all together and you throw the switch well...

All the fans and stuff went on but no beep test and nothing on creen (bios etc)

Hmmm will have to start again but worried.

1.processor new yesterday. Put New hsf on. Bit fiddly.
2. Graphics card supposeldy new.
3.memory second hand.
4. M board new.

Hmmm not happy am thinking
1.of the above could be knackered :( mortified.
2.Ive got something wrong somewhere.
3.Ive put the processor in the wrong way round, but this should be impossible.

Sonata case very nice, but lots of wires everywhere and hard to keep it tidy. Will go back to the bare build of
floppy, memory, mboard, processor and graphics card.

Hmmm thought this was gonna be all straighforward.

i would suggest re-seating everything. its impossible to get the CPU or memory the wrong way round, but its easy to not seat them correctly.

if you have more than 1 memory stick, just try one at a time.

if you have on-board graphics on your motherboard, try that instead of the graphics card.

take out everything thats optional (extra disks, other peripherals etc).

plug in some speakers -- my motherboard speaks to me on POST (although i doubt it would speak and not beep - i would expect it to do both or neither).

yes he's right, you've got to 'simplify' the problem.
Eventually you will be down to the cpu/ram/motherboard/psu.
Most likely the RAM or Motherboard (if its a cheap one) CPU's are rarely at fault (unless you were too rough putting on the Heatsink in which case they can fall victim to physical damage) . PSU maybe, but your fans come on so that indicates otherwise.

Did you use any electrostatic precautions?

Is it a new motherboard? Before taking everything out look for the CMOS clear jumper and check it is not set to clear. I bought a board from Ebuyer and all that happened were the fans spun. It took me ages to notice that the CMOS jumper was not in the default position! All was fine after that. Other thing is if it is a new board you often have 2 connectors from the power supply. The ATX one (2 deep and quite long with lots of wires) and a square white one (4 pin connector plugs into it) Older PSU's don't have a 4 pin connector so if you have updated everything apart from the PSU you may be missing that.

It should also Beep if you take the memory out!
Another thing to try is plug a keyboard in. If the caps and num lock lights go on and off when you press the keys then the basics (M/B CPU and RAM) are working.
