View Full Version : Buffalo Joes coming to Sheffield
laalaa 02-08-2005, 07:56 PM Gateshead's "amazing fun Western theme bar" Buffalo Joes (http://www.buffalojoes.co.uk) has applied for planning permission to open in the old Salvation Army building (Sheffield Citadel) on Cross Burgess Street.
Yet another classy bar to open in Sheffield! :P :|
Snakey_B 02-08-2005, 08:12 PM Heard this rumour before , where have you got this info from ?
ATleast the crowd from burlins will have somewhere to drink.......
Andy C 02-08-2005, 09:31 PM Yes, I've heard they have applied again.
Sounds like such a venue will be a good fun place, and it will be good to see the building actually brought back from dis-use.
Cannot see it getting a licence beyond 12 though, with all the flats around it.
the fonz 03-08-2005, 10:56 AM why would you bother to apply again surely then can try somewhere different.
TheWatcher 03-08-2005, 02:14 PM Ah one of the worst type of bars in Britian. Hate theme bars, and BJ's are awful.
Lets hope the licensing committee show some sense and refuse the application again.
mjlacey21 03-08-2005, 02:17 PM Ahhhh that place is horrible!!!!!
Trebles with mixer for £1.50! Bucking bronco with slappers in white skirts! Meat market of the worst kind!! And then off to the Baja Beach Club for more of the same.
Agggg!
drgiggles 03-08-2005, 03:03 PM wish we had a waggamomas in sheffield!

But East One's generally as good (and better for some dishes!).
mjlacey21 04-08-2005, 07:08 PM That night has been my mates idea of fun everytime I've been home in the last 3 years!!
Geordiecarl 10-08-2005, 01:10 PM Living oop in the toon, hi have noticed the vast increase in drinking tourists coming to the region. in fact there are so many that i wouldnt go to most pubs in the toon on a weekend as your either going to get harrased by a hen party from slough with water pistols and giant jonnys on their head or a welsh rugby team looking for some action with some 'geordie tarts'.
Not the kind of people you want coming to your peaceful city!

Or Newcastle, for that matter!!

grownsy 10-08-2005, 04:12 PM Ive been to the one in Newcastle, it worked up there, it is a meat market but everyone seemed to get on!! In Sheffield it might as well be a boxing ring!
mjlacey21 10-08-2005, 04:30 PM You must have gone on a good night - I've seen enough fights in and outside it.

Sheffield isnt a rought place to drink , infact ive never seen a fight outside a nightclub/bar nor have i seen a fight inside a bar say down west street.Ive seen a single fight inside republic and one in bed (which was infact me and a couple of friends who got started on for standing to close to a fight already happening)

And where do you drink then?
Sheffield is a rough night out, take it from someone who used to work in a bar, there are plenty of fights every weekend.
Have you ever been in a city where the police ask all of the bars to close at 5:30pm on a saturday so they can clear the streets of fighting football fans?
cellarhigh 11-08-2005, 04:50 PM ANYWAY (and returning to newcastle not slagging sheffield)
i go to newcastle a bit cause i've got family there and i love the night life. its so much better and built up with lots of class bars and clubs.
but if you truly want hen partys etc go to whitley bay - that place is absolutely mad
SheffBloke 15-08-2005, 12:56 PM I HOPE NOT !!!!!!!
Article in fridays telegraph saying that "Buffalo Joes" want to open up in the old Salvation Army building behind John Lewis.
I hope the City Council say no.This building will be in a promient position at the entance to the new retail quarter (if it ever happens) and deserves something better than Buffalo Joes.Having been to one in Gateshead and witnessed what there like, this is not the right area for such an establishment. The people it attracts are the types found spewing up on West St and urinating in shop doorways.
Why can't we have a "Pitcher & Piano" or a "Living Room" in such a fine building and let "Buffalo Joes" open up somewhere like............Valley Centretainment.
nick2 15-08-2005, 01:13 PM If the choice is a brash/bawdy bar or another empty building in town being left to fall down then I choose the bar, it might not be to my taste but I'm sure plenty of people will like it.

i've heard rumours that living room or something very similar will be opening in leopold square, which i'm sure you will agree is a finer set of buildings than the citadel
