and an Owl if from north Sheffield?

Seems logical given the locations of the stadiums but is it even a vaguely accurate rule?

It's difficult to judge, I know a few blades who live in high green and chapeltown and a few pigs who live in places like totley. Wednesday get a lot of support from Doncaster and Barnsley

That is the general trend, with the notable exception of Manor which is a Wednesday stronghold. Carcrash is right, Wednesday get support from much further afield than United... He also seems to go against the genral trend, being a Blade from Stannington!

Blades of Stannington unite!!!! I know quite a few blades up here in the hills.

The blue half of my family live up Foxhill, Grenoside, Hillsborough etc, the Red half live up Nether egde, Sharow, Crookes, London road. The red half took me to my first game when I was little so I supported the blades ever since.

Maybe thats true, but i know quite a few blades fans from hillsborough, who have lived there all their lives and whos family are owls fans, and some mates i used to play rugby with from the south side of sheffield who are owls fans through and through... i was taken to my first footie match when i was 3, i grew up at hillsbrough, the only reason we lived at hillsbrough was because my dad wanted to be close to the ground etc: so its something that i have always done - supported wednesday.
There are many Wednesday fans that ive know for years who sit on the same stand as my family etc, who come from Rotherham and Doncaster to see wednesday, and yet my Cousin in Huddersfield has a blade living at each side of him, yet they both have lived in Huddersfield all their lives. (adopted teams):suspect:

Thanks for your replies.

So not so much of a "rule" as in say Bristol where I understand Rovers fans are generally from the north and City fans from the south of the city. Possibly the same rule in the Potteries with Port Vale (north) and Stoke (south)?

Obviously family tradition seems to be the strongest factor in determining who you support. But do the fans have certain self-identities? For example, I get the feeling Blades fans regard themselves as, if not harder, more gritty? (Must be careful what I say!!)

Haven't lived in Sheffied long and have taken 6 months to decide which team should get my secondary allegiance. When buying a house it was either going to be in S8 or S6 and as we've ended up buying in S6 - it's gonna have to be Wednesday.

my families allegiance is to SUFC - parents from old old manor originally.
however my aunt took me to SWFC & age 8 & have been the black sheep ever since.
daughter is a wednesday fan - she has always lived in the crystal peaks area.

I agree, family tradition is the strongest factor, but to say that the blades (or) wednesday think they are the harder/gritty supporter, is a understatement,
your a red or a blue.

I have my Nannan and my Uncles to thank for my alligience :)

I've been told my boyfriend could be an axe-murderer as long as he was a Blade.

And my name gives you a clue as to where in Sheffield I'm from.
