View Full Version : Which other 'wedding' websites do you use?

I was just wondering if it's the recession (and people maybe delaying plans), the time of year, or if this part of the forum was considerably quieter than it had been in the past, and if that's the case, where is everybody doing their bridal chat?

On several threads here there have been recommendations for other websites to look at in answer to questions which should have been easily answered here on a busy day, so presumably even SF 'regulars' are posting elsewhere too...

... Where're your favourite 'other sites'?

I hardly ever come on here for bridal chat (usually look at the Going Out forum) because I spend hours on the forums of the You and Your Wedding website - http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk and click on 'chat'
There is a dedicated 'South Yorkshire Brides' thread in the 'Planning' section.
Hope that helps.

I also like the you and your wedding forums, there's lots of ideas and wedding chat there, though I'm more of an observer at the moment. Having said that as someone fairly new to Sheffield planning a wedding here I've found the venues thread on here totally invaluable - wouldn't have known where to start without it!

Now that it's all over I don't go on there at all any more. I'll still post on here if I see a thread where I can help with advice or recommendation, but that doesn't seem to be all that often anymore (especially as the main topics are already covered in the stickys)

(especially as the main topics are already covered in the stickys)So do you think that this could be a core reason for the group being so quiet?

I still don't see why all venue chat should be in the same place (when everybody has different criteria, so could really do with a thread of their own), and how the heck do you hold several conversations about several different dresses in one thread? It's just going to be too confusing to even bother reading (which I admit I don't, even though I visit the group fairly regularly)

I used Wedding Ideas, You and Your Wedding and The Knot - as it had a vegas section (its an American forum) - I got married in August this year.

I asked a few things on here - and I think i had a thread up for possible venues for our at home reception which was snottily closed and advised "its covered in the sticky", I cant remember or i may have read it and it put me off the section- the mods seem to activly discourage any form of chat or banter in this section, so i went elsewhere for it.

So i also dont see why ALL venue chats should be in one section, there may be lots of specfics i wonder about that, a massive jammed thread isnt very user friendly in my opinion.

Considering I got married in Scotland (admittedly before this group came about), I'd have been seriously miffed if my request for suggestions had been lumped in with a bunch of venue suggestions for Sheffield and the surrounding area!

I'm also pretty certain that those who are looking for Sheffield venues wouldn't be terribly interested in reading about random suggestions for Scottish castles either :suspect:
