As you may know, I'm develiping a site, and Moonbird has kindly allowed me to use the SF templates for rehoming. However, I'm also having sections for Amphibians and Fish, and I wonder if anyone here knows what questions should be answered when trying to rehome them? Any hep would be appreciated.
well id ask stuff like whether its freshwater, tropical or marine, what size tank is needed, whether its good with other fish or likely to eat them, normal size of fish, how big it is now.
thats just off the top of my head im not a fish keeper some someone who is will prob have better ideas:)

Hiya
Water parameters would be a good idea. PH level is necessary as PH shock can kill, snails can't take a PH below 7.
Has the fish got any more growing to do. Some fish get to more than 2ft in length and so leads to a lot of fish becoming unwanted.
Have the fish had any medication recently, if so what for, and did they finish the full cycle.
What is the average tank temperature.
Is the water straight from the tap or stood for a length of time to get to room temperature.
Is a water treatment used in general.
All these things have a bearing on whether they will fit into another persons tank successfully.
All rehomed fish should be quarantined for 2 weeks preferably as they can carry unseen disease etc with them, and is a couple of free fish worth losing your own for? Does the rehomer have the facilities?
Finally, there is to my knowledge only one registered fish re-homer who will take any fish at any time of the day or night and is called upon by the RSPCA, and is also registered both with them and Calypso, another fish rehoming service. His name is Richard Holland and can be contacted via the information held here http://www.aquarist-classifieds.co.uk/php/detail51_107412.php
That's all I can think of for now lol

as for marine fish and livestock
you will need to ask about :
ph
nitrate
nitrite
salinity level
what lighting is used
how long the tank has been established
and what other livestock the fish was kept with.
and also you will need to do alot of research especially with marine because there is a very lot of fish/invertebrates/coral's that cant be kept together and need a minimum size tank. tang's for example are recomended at least 5ft x 2ft x 2ft as they need alot of swim space although imo they do ok in smaller tanks just not ridiculous 2ft or biorb's !
and alot of that also applies to tropical's as big cichilid's and catfish especially need huge tank's and excellent filtration to keep them healthy and happy.
good luck
let us know when your up and running as i rehome fish myself.
