Can anyone help? My female cat meows constantly when you are stood up and walking around, she follows you and lately has been much more affectionate.
She seems to be eating much more, and I have noticed the last week or so that her stomach is quite swollen. I took her to have her spayed at about 6 and a half months and she is around 16 months old now, so I know she cannot be pregnant.
I am thinking of taking her to the vets this week, but does anyone have any idea what this could be?
I have looked online and seen a few threads about phantom pregnancys.. are these common and if so can I do anything?

As far as i know phantom pregnancys are common after having them spayed. Our friends dog had one when she was done.

Another thing is that (i know this is true for dogs, not sure about cats) they put on weight more easily when they've been done... i've got cats and a dog, and we had the dog done recently and we got told all this... i can't remember having the cats done 'cos i was only young at the time.

Might be worth a trip to the vets if you think it could be a phantom pregnancy though.

Oh and since we've had our dog done i've noticed that shes more affectionate... i think its cos of the lack of hormones- it calms them down... again we got told this when our dog was done... i'm not sure if the same applies for cats; though i dont see why it shouldn't.
