After seeing the last 2 Dispatches programs on C4 regarding poultry and other supermarket foodstuffs, i would really like to look for a more reliable source for good quality poultry, especially chicken.
Could anyone recommend a good quality butchers, preferrably in the S6 area.
Thanks.

Which area is S6? There is a good butchers on Sharrovale Road if that helps. (Hunters Bar area) Waitrose sell good quality chicken but it's usually that people wont pay for it. They have organic free range which is nice, I had some last night. :)
There are 2 butchers in Crookes not sure how good but go to Ronies on Sharrowvale Road as all the meat is organic and reared somewhere in the Peaks.
I'd buy meat there if I wasn't a vegetarian
The treatment of animals shown on those programmes made me glad I don't eat meat even more.
Everyone should buy organic milk. It's so much better for you and not a lot more expensive...

After watching the first of these programmes I'll only ever buy organic, free range meat, regardless of the cost.

didn't watch either programme but I can guess what they said :(
blissfully ignorant ?
The ducks were realy upsetting, poor little sods couldn't even go for a swim.
The program was right though when it said it's our fault we are in this possition, if we asked for fruit and veg that might not be perfect but did taste better the supermarkets would give it to us, but we dont.

Your right there nick2,
Have you ever watched people sifting through the fruit and veg in any of the major supermarkets. You see them picking up the produce and if its got the slightest blemish they turn their nose up at it and throw it back. They don’t even smell or squeeze it!
It is the consumer who decides what to buy and if we continue to buy whole chickens at £2.50 we will not see an end to this kind of cruel farming!
It seems the shops policies are in complete contradiction with the demands they place on their suppliers. On one hand they say they only buy from reputable producers and make site visits etc to ensure the quality of life for the animal. But on the other they only buy from the suppliers with the lowest cost, and the only way a farmer can compete is by cutting corners!
Shop at Waitrose or a good local butcher if you can!
