View Full Version : Help please - dog passed away - where do I take him??
I cany believe that only two months after loosing my old dog Millie, last night after having what seemed a tummy bug my 8 year old lab crossed passed away. I am devestaed but nw stuck as my usual vets (Spire) are closed on a Sunday. Does anyone please know of a vets in sheffield that I could take him to or should I just ring Spire and see what they can do? Any help or advice appreciated
sarahjane 01-11-2009, 10:54 So sorry to hear about your dog.
Peak vets at Woodseats are open on a Sunday but they only usually see people that are registered to them. It may be worth calling them though under the circumstances,
Their number is 0114 2507733

Thanks for that - I did register online last night with them as I had wondered if I would need to take him to the vets today... I will try them
Sorry to hear about your dog :( It may be worth looking at this thread

Awww Im so sorry to hear about your dog, but at least he/she went in there home where they will have felt safe, I had to have mine put down as his arthritus had got really bad and I hated that , it was heart breaking, the other dog I have now is 10 in march and diabetic, hes a rotty so hes doing really well but I cant help hoping that if he has to go i hope its in his sleep at home and not the dreaded journey to the vets and having him put to sleep, Hope your all ok
Thanks seadog - I think I will try peak first and failing that the pet ambulance - I just cant leave it until tomorrow when my own vets open because of the kids :(
sorry to hear your sad news.

mummysaz21 01-11-2009, 14:03 omg 8 years old?she was young then mine is 7 thats very scarey im sosossoososso sorryxx
Hi, so sorry for your loss, I know what your going through my dog holly died 6 weeks ago today. i rang the vets who advice to store her somewhere cool and then take her first thing on the monday morning. I froze a old towel and covered her up. Hope this helps.
thanks all. I rang Peak who were lovely and let me take Kipper there earlier today. I just could bear to wait until Monday and it wouldnt have been fair on the kids as they were very upset.
Kipper had what appeared to be a normal tummy bug yesterday - you know the sort where they look sorry for themselves and go off food but generally after 24 hours are ok. Unfortunately there must have been a lot more going on that we couldnt see poor dog. He really wasnt ancient being only 8 and I feel so guilty but know that there really cant have been anything I could have done.
Thank you to Peak who were most helpful this morning and to everyone for your comments. To loose two dogs that were much loved family pets so close togther is awful but I know that Kipper and Millie will look after each other.
Sarah I'm so, so sorry to hear about your boy - what a terrible shock :(
Wishing you all the best at this horrendous time :(
