I think I posted a topic last week about my hammy Chloe being ill, and sadly i had to have her PTS :( i'm really missing her company already; so now i'm looking into getting another one after xmas.

I'd like to go to a breeder, so i've emailed a couple off http://www.britishhamsterassociation.org.uk/locate_breeder.php here. But apart from these, i can't find anymore.

Also are there any good sites that have syrians up for sale? I can find a couple, but none of the adds are in or around sheffield.

Thanks :)

theres a breeder in shefield shes called ann dray..who is on there....
id be very careful with petshops, syrians are pretty sensitive and the mass bred ones end up being prone to wet tail .
good luck :)

Cheers :); i've emailed the sheffield breeder, but no reply as yet :(
Don't suppose you know if she has a website or anything do you?

I'm refusing to go to a certain chain of pet shop, the two previous hammys that i had before Chloe were from there, and both had to be PTS due to tumors "/

I only go there for my pet supplies now; breeders all the way if you can!

defo breeders all the way... syrians need good handling while young otherwise you normally end up with screechy hand shy monsters. ive had a few of them , its probably why they have such a bad rep

Heard someone with a kid looking at the hammys today and she went "..oh yeah but hamsters bite dont they..." I was so tempted to correct her...

& that would be fab if you had it :) cheerss.

yeah syrians are excellant when properly tamed, mine left being used to the vaccuum cleaner, tv, music, dog barking on occasion...i still love hearing about the ones i bred

i may do it again one day but not for a while.
worst thing about syrian breeding is making sure the female does decide to mate and not chase the male , biting him
