Poor little kittens, it truly is heartbreaking as they should have so many years of life ahead of them, this just goes to show one very important thing...if the cats had been spayed and the Toms neutered then the kittens would not be sat there now under a death sentence , and that is the most important lesson to take away with that article.

I really hope that some people on this forum that let their cats produce kittens will take this on board...instead of seeing the kittens in the picture innocently awaiting the inevitable see the faces of your own kittens or their offspring...not pleasant is it?

It is obviously written to tug the heart strings, and I expect that the majority of the kittens will be taken in or soaked up by other rescues, but I bet the older animals won't, the mums to the kittens that are barely more than babies themselves but no longer fluffy and cute, now scrawny and tired from the strain that rearing the kittens puts on their immature little bodies... not aimed at anyone in particular just a general observation, nuff said I think!

Well said Moonbird.

I bang on to ANYONE who'll listen, get your animals done. Im guilty of not getting my rabbits done, but theyre both females - no chance of breeding. And, they'll be getting done, once we've got our cats sorted out - ongoing vaccines etc.

Nowadays its petty cash - places offer Spaying for £50, sometimes less.. Cats protection offer £30 vouchers off it, £20 to get your cat done! It really is, small money. Even to those on benefits.

Those poor poor cats in the article, I wish I had enough room/money to get them, but I simply dont. :(

Its just awful isnt it...they need to do here what they do in Australia...no cats or dogs are rehomed unless they are spayed/neutered...or you sign to say when they are old enough you will return them to have them done...and if you dont...the centre can remove them from you and take them back into their care....

Imagie having to put that many kittens down at one time. Its got to be a harrowing experience for any vet, no matter how hardened he or she may think they are.
