RIZRAT 30-10-2009, 15:03 Can we shorten this poll down to just two answers please ?? With a new question "When should Slimsid ?" A: get a girlfriend ? or B: get a life ??:huh: Get with it daddyo indeed !! slimsid2000 30-10-2009, 15:04 It is a serious poll about the transiant nature of popular vocabulary. If you don't get the point then that is your fault ~Kes~ 31-10-2009, 04:56 None of those cressida 01-11-2009, 20:43 wouldn't say any of those either stellas 04-11-2009, 19:07 Not any of those. Jabberwocky 04-11-2009, 19:17 I say them all, usually in the same sentance. Craig7777 04-11-2009, 19:21 Toodle pip for me :) slimsid2000 21-11-2009, 14:03 In time "vibe', 'wicked' and 'banging' will be seen as out dated as 'toodle pip old thing' slimsid2000 14-12-2009, 14:16 Back in the 1920s if you were a gay young thing (and gay meant something very different then) and a member of the higher classes you would say toodle pip old thing (in a Bertie Woosteresque sort of way) when taking your leave of a young lady. In the 1950s if you were a teenager you would hang around coffee bars, listen to Tommy Steel songs and say get with it Daddyo to anyone over the age of 30 because they would invarablly be 'square'. These days both these things sound dated and anachranistic, so why do today's teens think their own phrases and sayings are so 'cool' when they too will be outdated in time. Do they not appreachiate this when they say such things? cressida 14-12-2009, 19:54 Most wouldn't give it a thought - a lot of Americanisms have crept into the Englsh language, some peeps here think they're so cool and copy, language is also picked up from music too. teddie 17-12-2009, 16:38 Yer wot?
