View Full Version : Global Gathering 2005!! The Highs and Lows
Hiya Folks,
well im still recovering after a mad weekend!!! Global was all together abit crazy, the DJ's were and the people there were awesome, everyone was really friendly!!! But!!! and this is a huge but!!! its was like it was organise by toddlers!!!Agreed, by law you have to check people on the way into a event: drugs,knifes,guns,bombs....... blah blah!!! but they knew how many people were ngoing to be at the avent, somaking people wait 3 hours to get in and then another hour to actually get into the festival was really out of order!this could really get to be a really long post so im gonna cut it down:The queue, letting little chav's round the tents nicking, the state of the food, the price of the food, running out of beer, the state of the price of beer, making campers walk miles to get in,nothaving enough space for people to camp.....i could go on and on sounding like i had a **** time, i dint but i wanna know what you think if ya went!paul growns
jenniferuk 02-08-2005, 12:38 We didnt find it a great experience.
1)2 hours queueing to get in because they were xraying peoples bags, then just as we got to front they stopped and just started letting people in without searching, why bother in the first place??
2) we could find no where to put our tent and in the end we had to squeeze it in a small gap
by this time it was 10pm and we'd missed all the best acts!
We went in to the site and it was fab, the atmosphere was great and deep dish was amazing but with it ending at 2am it all seemed over too fast.
then 3) When we tried to get some sleep the music from the dodgems kept us awake till 8am at which time the camp site seemed to wake up and then that kept us awake.
4) our neighbouring tents decided they didnt like us and started messing with our heads. Saying stuff and making sure we heard it, pulling our tent apart, spitting on it. All stuff we would usually have laughed off if we werent suffering from severe lack of sleep and come downs.
In the end the paranoia and sleep deprevation got way too much and we left 4pm Saturday feeling absolutely devestated.
5) Now found out now that the little ones we had were actually full off ephedrine which explains why we couldnt sleep and were so paranoid.
The good side of the story is with the amount we were planning to take on the sat night if we had of stayed we'd be dead now!
you always q when you go to festivals - thats par for the course but what do you expect when you let loads of people camp at a dance festival- of course there are going to be loads of scallies there knicking your stuff- if you want a proper festival go to glasto or leeds or something- there dance tents are just as good to be honest.
I have been to GKGG twice and you wouldn't get me back there if you paid me!! Bring back GCSSS is what i say :D :D
cloud9moomin 03-08-2005, 11:30 Sonar-
Check it out, I really couldn't fault it! Lovely people, good variety of music, excellent weather, and a beutiful location. The uk does seem to be a bit lame at the whole dance festival thing.
neeeeeeeeeek 03-08-2005, 12:31 I think Sonar is a bit different though, it's not at a set venue so you don't have the same problems, not really a fair comparison. Some of the smaller festivals in this country are still good. The Megadog ones were brilliant. Glade, Shamballa, Solfest, and not forgeting the Big Chill which is where I am going tomorrow
didnt make global this year - not cash :(
went last yr and have to agree about the complaints of cost of stuff. cans of beer £4. burgers £5. YOU'RE 'AVIN A LAUGH!
Were the buses back to town any better htis year? We ended up walking back when I went last year cos bus organisation was shocking.
Agreed Jen, the noise was expected and we was still up anyway!! all the people who was round us were pretty ok, i think we might of been the guys next to you, well 2 girls next to us dint seem too inpressed and ****ed off early, we actually wasnt talking to them or about them!! they just went all together off on one!! Also, ive not had a decent nights sleep since i got back!! i keep on having really random dreams and waking up in hot sweats, that could be something to do with me still crying over spend 350 quid!! most on Larger @ 3.50 a can!! outrage!!!
jenniferuk 03-08-2005, 14:12 I was with my bf and the people next to us definately had some kind of problem against us lol, we openly confronted them at one point. If it werent for the little ones we had it'd have been a grea weekend. I know what you mean about wasted money, we gave up a beach holiday for a trip to amsterdam to goto global :(
