Hiya
I wonder if anyone knows what was here before the Bowden Houstead Estate at Handsworth(comprising Handsworth Avenue, Houstead Rd etc...)
I'm guessing that before the houses were build in the late 1930's there wasn't much here but would love to find a picture or a bit of history about the place.
I found a picture on Picture Sheffield of a bunch of people in a field in 1930 which says is now Handsworth Crescent so i'm guessing it was probably just green land round here.
Any info appreciated

Hi, I would also like to find out what was there before the Bowden Housteads estate. I have found that an ancester lived at Bowden House, Handworth in the early 1920's. His name was George Watson Marshall and he owned a leather factors on attercliffe rd from the late 1800's untill at least 1930. He also lived on Main Street, Handsworth during the 1920's. Any info would be much appreciated. Thankyou.
