I saw something on the tram yesterday that suggested that students can use their expired student bus pass to get reduced fares... to be honest I didn't read it properly, why not pop into the Transport Interchange and get some more details?

It's not as easy as that.. jobs are hard to come by, even with all the Government's bleating that the unemployment figures are down and all that BS.

The OP is perfectly entitled to a student bus pass, he is a student who isn't earning much money obviously, so at least IMO he is entitled to reduced travel expenses.

I wish some people on here would STFU with all their moaning and griping about students, it really does get on my nerves and probably others's nervers as well.

You're right, stick to the education before braving the wilds of employment.

A much safer option for some people.

Err unemployment is down a great deal under the current government. It isn't BS.
Now, this isn't meant to be ironic, but McDonalds on Penistone road were recruiting the last time I was there. You have to 18 or older though.

I agree, but they could still try and find some work. It will help their bank balance, and give them valuable experience.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. And IMO, suggesting to someone who struggles to afford their bus fare and has a large ammount of free time on their hands that they might want to try and get a job is constructive.

No need to go on the defensive.

Your student bus pass is issued by the Transport Executive, and it isn't the fault of First or any other Operator that it is expired.

Your pass is to help you with your education; with your spelling it seems to have singularly failed.

If your pass is expired, get a new one... Ask the driver, 'can I have a Student 7 day saver'... Just like you do everyday !
You can by Student passes all year round, nothing has changed.Originally posted by TracieJC

Just an example, not forcing you to go down there.

I'm staggered by your opposition to work, but maybe I shouldn't be.

Not many people are able to do a job they enjoy, you are in a position to increase your chances of being one of the lucky few. Make sure you take it or else you'll be supervising people "serving mc **** burgers in mc donalds"

Tracie is right, you can hand in your expired 16-18 pass and obtian a further discounted ticket. I think it's £25 for the month which is less than a £1 a day (so equalish to two journeys for you).

You are no longer a student after term has finished as you could simply walk away from your course. This is why the PTE (not First as correctly stated by Joe) encourage you to hand in your pass. BTW make sure you've completed your next 16-18 student pass application form.
