Sounds strange!

Are you closing with the red cross on the right or Control W???

I have closed with red cross, file - close and also right click close and still all my windows close.

Tried that one and i got;
iexplorer.exe-application error
The instruction at 0x7d51dfb1 referenced memory at "0x0000004c" the memory could not be read.
then something to do with an add on that was running when this happened, which was pc tool browser monitor.

Both pages closed.

If it isn't that I can only assume your shift key is dodgy as normally if you hold the shift key and close an application...all open applications close as explained in my Windows XP book I have just checked for you....

Close Multiple Windows :

Note works in all versions of Windows
If you just opened a number of separate, related windows (a folder inside a folder, and so on), there's an easier way to close them all than one-at-a-time. Hold down the Shift key as you click the X caption button in the upper-right corner of the last window opened. Doing so closes that window and all windows that came before it.

Sorry I cannot be of further help - I am sure a computer expert will be along shortly!

Googled and found this (http://pcsupport.about.com/od/quicktips/qt/closeallwindows.htm)

could you have selected Close Group at some point in error!!

It doesn't really say how to deactivate this particular feature but most features in Windows XP are check and uncheck...so worth a look!!

:suspect:

Good Luck!

ah sounds like spyware sneaked on through one of IE's little holes.

and yes you can keep both IE and outlook express and use them whenever, but id make firefox your default browser and use it as much as you can

instead of opening loads of IEs firefox opens loads of pages in the same copy of firefox making it a lot neater and easier to navigate
